Communicating with animals on psychedelics/dissociatives

they have. pets that usually wouldnt give me the time of day have spent 16+ hours with me on mescaline. most notably my friend's cat who is usually shy and hides from strangers. I think it's because we spent a lot of time laying on the floor on mattresses that are in the cat's normal space, and the fact that we were acting so fascinated by animal's presence and giving it so much attention, and also because we probably had a generally relaxed and friendly vibe (body language, voice, whatever)

Had a cat that kept fucking with me a couple nights ago. This was on 2c-i, but I kinda dought the cat knew the difference. But I don't really know the girls who live there, cat could be like that all the time.

I tend to have a lot of (wild) birds come really close to me when I am outdoors, even when I am sober. I have been a bird person since I was a little kid though. Pidgeons, ducks, crows, robins and even the extremely skittish local pelicans will come within about 5 feet of me and just sit there. Creeps other people out, but I love it:)

Nice story dragonfly. I haven't been given the opportunity to try mescaline but it is at the top of my list. When you all say mescaline do you mean extracted mescaline or a cactus that contains mescaline. Do you think it makes a difference which one you take or is it all the same? I know the trip can be different but what about the effect on animals?

I am a non-violent person and I will only kill something if it is trying to do me harm...even then I sometimes feel bad about it. I cannot imagine hurting an animal while tripping. Animals are said to have some special sense that humans don't have. For instance, they will act strange before a catastrophic event or a severe change in the whether. Although we have done extensive research on animals and continue to do so, there are just some things that science can't explain. Humans tend to believe we are a superior species and I'm sure we are in some ways but we need to realize that we are inferior to animals too.

For all we know animals could be able to telepathically communicate with one another. Good thread....I need to take some mescaline in the woods and see if I can confirm this theory.

Actually, I think that humans do have this ability as well. It's just that most people never practice it and/or actively do not believe that it's true. But it can certainly be developed.

I agree. Vocal language probably did it.

I think this "6th sense" that animals are purported to have is simple intuition that we humans tend to tune out. How many times have you been in a situation where you were certain something bad was going to happen and then ahd it happen. I have found trusting my gut instincts to be essential to keeping myself out of a fuckton of trouble:\

Think about the 2004 tsunami. Many animals (especially elephants) were reported to be seen heading for higher ground around the time the tide began to go out in the minutes before the tsunami hit. People were too consumed by wondering just what the fuck was going on to think about what to do to survive. The animals knew what was coming and were not distracted enough to sit and stare

I find that animals are scared of me on psyc's, one time I was on my way home at about 1am walking towards my cruiser when my friends cat crossed my path, now im great with cats having four of my own and this cat is friendly with me. But it ran around me with its tail fluffed up, back arched and head lowered in a very defencive way. That truly shock me up.

^^ Animals used to be afraid of me while tripping, but that was only when tripping made me feel weird and made me give off anxious vibes. Nowadays I am quite comfortable usually when tripping, and animals react accordingly.

Yea I feel the same way but I think animals more primitive nature makes them more tuned into those kinds of things. Maybe it is one of those skills we lost because it wasn't necessarily needed to survive. We don't need to be aware of our surroundings as much as other animals do. Most of us aren't hunters and gatherers anymore. I wonder if tripping takes us back to our primitive state of mind where we are on more or less the same level as other animals.

I'm not sure how much faith I'd put in stories about "the animals headed for the higher ground". I'd like to bet that 99.999% of these stories are just that - stories and urban myths. The pictures I saw of the tsunami showed an awful lot of drowned animal corpses.

For some reason the neighbors cat has pawing and meowing at my window for the last 4 hours. It sounds like its saying "hi" over and over. It did the same thing last night. I always see this cat when I'm tripping as well. I don't have a cat so I don't know if this behavior is normal...

The only time I took mescaline, I also had animal close encounters. I find them extra fascinating while tripping, and they seem to be less threatened.

Today while exploring the forest on mescaline, we were followed by a very large animal, we think probably a large cat of some sort. Or perhaps a bear, as it was making lots of noise and generally hunting cats are pretty silent. Scary stuff! It went on for so long and was so ominous that I had a large, sharp rock and was prepared to fight to the death... I was fairly sure we were going to be attacked.

So yeah, an animal was attracted to us on mescaline! 8o

Does anyone think that even if wild animals are magically attracted to you while tripping you owe it to the animal to scare and frighten it away? After all the next person it starts to approach could have a hunting rifle up his jacket.

^What, people shoot toads? Weird.

My theory- mescaline enables lower, more ancient brain functioing to increase, and that in turn causes the human to emitt a 'dormant' pheromone that is attractive to particualr animals. In fact this property coudl be shared by a lot of psychedlics. It seems that felines, canines and reptiles are the most prominent things to feature in these animal magnetisms (or at least in the visions- some report transfroming into such creatures- that could explain the enabling of a theorised and proabaly bullshit dormant pheremone emission theory)- so maybe it has to do with the active human evolved mind tapping into the older basic segments to the extent of activating them.

Or yeah, you guys could just be doing that tripping thing where everything feelis like partt of a hologram/pattern/the same. However, its interesting to note that those people who claim to be able to manipulate chakras/auras and the Like insist that deep belief in the phenonmenom is required to unveil the inherent flaws/or more truly perceptions of a hologrpahic universe- such as synchronicities, ESP, clairvoyance, precognition, remte viewing of objects through other objects- and it could be that the power of mescalin-ergic human conciousness, or rather conciousness charged mescaline, allowed you to inadvertently create a partial unravelling by altering "learned" frequency patterns of the worl; the effect was the phenomeneon of multitudes of animals bizarrely following you. The reason that such a random event could occur is because it isn't atually random, but are pieces of the enitire pattern that are more linked then others. It just appears random, or limited to animals, probably because of the substrate-mescaline..

Ismene, have a crack at that :)
