i'm looking for a not too light but not too strong dose of DOI.

I've never had it before so i don't know what the common dose is.

thanks

and i've used the search engine

Ah, but have you checked erowid?

I believe the common moderate-strong dose is 3.0mg

I'd say try 1.5-2.0 for a light-moderate dose.

Yeah, I really would advise some more research before dosing this long lasting & potent compound. A "light" dose and "heavy" dose are within milligrams of each other and will be the difference between tripping for a day to multiple days if not meticulously dosed. In my experience, 5 mg would have me tripping for 36+ hours and enduring residual effects lasting for a few more days.

Shulgin notes "For those who find such statistics interesting, the parent compound DOI vies with DOB as probably the most potent of the phenethylamine psychedelics as of the moment, and certainly one of the most long lived."

Check out the Big & Dandy DOI thread...

Please keep this in mind and be safe.

now you guys are scaring me....i haven't gotten it yet, but i think it's going to be on a large tab (as in on illustration board/cardboard). I've done DOC before, and that's what it came on as well. Anyway, i dont have access to a scale if it comes in powder form and cutting, with that much of a difference within mg's, half of the tab just seems very unsafe because there is no knowing how equally displaced it is. By the way, i'm getting 4 mg's.

If you can trust that it's really 4 mg and not more you could choose to let the paper soak in water or spirits like vodka, a measured volume of liquid in any case. Let it steep, push the liquid in and out of the mushy paper, just make sure it absorbs the drug.
Then, the liquid can be measured to fit your dose, since in solutions things get quite well distributed (which I what I think you meant with 'displaced') even without stirring or shaking - both of which are possible mr. Bond, and always a good affirmation to homogenize your liquid.
