Benzos Coming off Xanax

Another one to consider and most assuredly your doctor will consider is Klonopin. Klonopin is very long acting and for this reason it is used as the #1 taper Benzo, at least in my neck of the woods.

I have been through Xanax withdrawal and it was the most horrible experience in my life. I did not sleep, not even 1 minute for a week straight, then slowly after that I got an hour here or there for another 2 weeks. I had the worst anxiety imaginable, felt electric like shocks jolt my body constantly, had the worst thoughts, hallucinated and finally had a seizure and almost died.

Be safe, taper!

Thanks for the advice that's definately what I'm going to do. Living without knowing when your next seizure is going to be sounds like hell.

Good; I'm glad to hear that you're considering getting professional help. I had to put my construction job on hold until my neurologist appointment at the end of the month because I can't take time off every time I run out of benzo's. Wouldn't want to have a seizure while up on scaffolding or while operating machinery with blades..Sucks. Don't put yourself through it.

if i run out of xanax and cold turkey it
its always on day 3 when i start having seizures

in my opinion coming off xanax is a son of a bitch,
slow taper is the way to go and get on a benzo with a long half life

watch out for triggers, so you dont backslide back to the 4 mg's
to be honest
i been struggling with getting off these evil bastards since may, and havent been too successful

dr's wont help, they are like check yourself into a detox facility, you go in for 5 days, come out, day 1 you feel normal, day 2 you are back down in the dumps,

and i know some famous punk rock fellah , who was on a half a milligram a day for about a month and he said those were some of the worst withdrawls he ever had

good luck
be strong

lay in bed listen to bob marley while you reduce your dose

Xanax withdrawal was the most horrible thing I ever experienced. Right now I am coming cold turkey off 200-300mg a day oxy habit and it's nothing in comparison.

I had a seizure on day 4 of Xanax withdrawal, right in the middle of a visit to my doctor. Don't even remember it happening. One second I was talking to the doctor, the next I sort of came to in a hospital bed not knowing why I was there.

It is helping my oxy withdrawal just thinking about how bad Xanax was. I didn't get out of bed for weeks when I quit it. Without oxy I feel bad but I can still function somewhat.

And be aware that if you have a seizure you probably won't be driving for awhile (depending what state you are in.) I couldn't drive for six months.

Alprazolam is a very potent drug. 0.25-1mg is the window that gives the most positive effects while giving the least negative ones, and over this sedation and aggression go up significantly. Do not underestimate the power of <1mg alprazolam (or clonazepam, etc...)

same here , but after getting pulled over, i was a passenger the cops asked for i.d's when he came back he said that all our DL were good to go, so i guess the hospital never sent in that paper work,

but all my seizures are xanax w/d related

i was going thru a cold turkey w/d once and my dumbass got ahold of some tramadol
i ate 250 mg's
next thing ya know my foot is twitching, and im feeling spacey

like you said i woke up in a bed, my family is all talking gently to me, my brain was kinda cycling shutting on and off,
later my brother told me, i started speaking in tongues then tried running thru a wall,

check out benzo withdrawl sites, theres a ton of them out there
with real good advice from people who are in the same boat as we are in

good luck
be safe
get off them sooner rather later

Coming off of xanax has been something I have succeeded at, then proceed to 'jump back on the wagon soon after" many of times... ha ha! It is best to taper with something maybe like Klonopin, in my opinion. Otherwise just make a schedule of how you will taper off of the xanax addiction. Nothing is unfixable, and good luck to you my friend!

Benzo withdrawal is down right awful! Fortunately, you have not been on them for very long.

Yes i agree, getting on some diazepam (Valium) would be your best best. I would say ~20 Ten mg diazepam tablets would be sufficient enough. (See your doctor for actual dosage information).

If going that route is not an option, you could look into ordering some Kratom. I would suggest Commercial Bali. I tried that during my withdrawal and it helps tremendously with the WD's!

Feel free to pm me if you need any more help or support.

kratom? for benzo w/d?
i guess it could make you feel good, but i don't see how it would alleviate benzo w/d's..
i would recommend kava or even valerian for benzo w/d and kratom for opiate w/d. but i guess whatever helps and whatever tickles your dopamine receptors will make you feel "better".

I've seen my doctor and I've been switched to 40mg Diazepam a day, I'm waiing two weeks then going to start the taper at 20% reduction per month. I can taper quickly because I wasn't on Xanax for very long.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply, this issue has now been resolved (as long as the taper works as planned). :-)

I have tapered down from taking 4mgs. daily of Xanax to taking 1mg at bedtime.I did this on my own by slowly taking less & less.each day.My doctor doesn't know I am down to 1mg. ,he thinks I am still taking 3 a day.
