I have been on methadone clinic abuot a month. They took me up to 80 mg , 30 for 3 days , then 40 , 45 , 50 , etc and last week or so at 80. i dont want to stay on because im scared of being on long term and how much harder it will be to stop later. so i can either get my 80 mg take home dose and use that to kick or start going every other day and getting 80 mg so its like im just taking 40 at first...........(rules are you can miss one day and nothing happens but if you miss 2 in a row they cut your dose in half)
anoter reason to go off is they dont allow benzos, they do random urines, an im on klonopin and i need it for anxiety.............
so anyone reccomend what best idea is ? i also have 60 50 mg tramadol for after i stop the meth..............

The best option is to just be sick and deal with the withdrawals. Unfortunately that is the only real option. You could try to taper down, but hopefully you realise you are just delaying the inevitable.

Like Jam said, you really don't have much of an option. Either way you are going to go through wd, there is no way of getting around it. From what I've heard, methadone wd is the worst of all, so IMO you may be better off going with the skag. There are many resources on the internet with "tips and tricks" for quiting, but it really all comes down to your own will power. and if you can take the pain. Perhaps you might want to switch to suboxone or something with bupe? That might me more viable in the long term than methadone.

What about giving Kratom a shot? Though as someone said in another thread about this, as a replacement addiction is kind of sucks. Withdrawals in 6-8 hours and having to swallow 14g's of the shit 2-3x's a day. But I'd probably be abusing real opiates without it and spending a lot more money.

like was already said, methadone withdrawals suck! i came off of it cold turkey at a rather high dose (120mg/day) and those w/d's were worse than any OC, H, or bupe w/d's i had ever been through.. i lasted 10 days in 'done w/d's and was still sick as fuck and had to stop it somehow.. got on suboxone 3.5 years ago and have been on it since. I also have a prescription for pretty much an unlimited supply of tramadol that i take along side the bupe for back pain.
I suggest for you to go on bupe and take the tramadol with it and say fuck it to the methadone, that shit is evil IMO/IME. Good luck! Hope you figure something out and don't need to go through the shit i went through when coming off that shit, i wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy (well maybe i would ;) ).

Also you cant rely on benzos to seriously tackle your anxiety, IME, they only make it worse in the sense you become somewhat mentally dependant, just not to having the benzo in your blood but dependant on having them at arms reach to feel comfortable and anxiety and thats just a stupid way to treat anxiety.

Unless you have PTSD and it was hardcore trauma and you're in the fetal position in bed all day scared to leave your house then benzos are the better alternative. But they wont improve your anxiety, they will mask it and only compound the original problem, as you're just teaching your brain to unlearn any old coping mechanisms you had and to just rely on the benzo to cope with anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or whatever it is called is a much better option, you will actually improve your brain and bodies reaction to perceived fears, as opposed to just masking them, and thinking everything is okay.

Inevitably your tolerance will rise, the benzo dose will either need to be increased, compounding the problem of addiction(the very same problem you seem to be scared of when it comes to the 'done).

So sorry to preach man, but benzos dont have any place in treating anxiety disorders, they only make your problem worse. Exposure therapy is best, and "flooding" a technique of flooding the sufferer with sources of anxiety and making the patient wait with the anxiety experience it, then try to rationanalize it ect.

Doing this daily will unlearn the learned reactions you'ved developed in life to the point where you feel as though you NEED benzos just to function in society. I'm in no way putting you down for feeling this way, as i was the same, and i of course at the start would have rather stayed on benzos to control this shitty condition, but over time you start to work out that the benzos only truely work for small amounts of time until your dose must be increased ect.

Choice 1: Take benzos and avoid your problem, let it compound, and just keep running from the original problem.

Choice 2: Stop taking benzos and actually start attacking these flaws in your thinking.

Goodluck man, the thing is the benzos take the effort of just taking a drug, literally curing your problem(keep in mind everyone feels anxiety, you cannot expect to never be nervous) is going to take sustained effort daily for weeks to months.. But the end outcome is much better than benzo dependancy.

i have no personal experience with methadone clinics, so i don't know whether this is possible... but would they help taper you off the 'done if you asked or do you have to stay at doses of 80mg or higher for some longer period of time?

^ usually they will do a quick taper for free if you tell them you want to get off of it and can't afford it anymore.. they tried to talk me into a quick taper when i said i was going to cold turkey and when i refused i had to sign a waver saying i wanted to come off my high dose CT willingly in case anything happened to me, i wasn't expecting w/d's to be as bad as they were or i would have done the taper.

at this place it is free for a year but they want ppl to stay on but they dont allow benzos and do random urines so if they find klonopin that im on in my urine they might throw me off. or just detox me fast , but that might be the best option anyway

So start the taper now. If you don't switch to Subs then I don't think Kratom could hurt. I know it's helped me in Sub withdrawal though and made the transition symptom free. Problem now is i'm addicted to Kratom again.

yea if u want off the methadone start to taper your doses, if you quit cold turkey i can almost guarantee you will be so fucking sick u will either wanna kill your self or u will go back to doing the opioid u had been abusing previously. Taper down to a tiny dose then begin to skip days and so on, idk as much about methadone but i did a quick taper with bupe a few times now and it is almost painless, not nearly as painful as cold turkey let alone with a long acting opioid like methadone good luck and stay strong.

I am going to get a take home tmrw 80 mg so i can save that get a bun sunday and not take any meth , just do a couple bags ,then make monday my last day dosing , if the counselor wont wean me off then i will just do a couple bags a day for a few days then take the tramadol i have since i have 60

I'd try to get on hydros or some other weaker opiate to replace the methadone for a bit. And then taper off that. Tramadol is kinda miserable to come off of. Although 60 isn't that much. Think you'd probably be pretty sick just taking the tramadol and you don't wanna take too many because it can be pretty dangerous at high doses.

just stop cold turkey ? i am sure id be back on heroin then............

That's what happens when you stop methadone man. What's your plan your just going to quit methadone and take tramadols, then be opiate free? Thats way far fetched. It's inevitable that you'll take opiates to feel better. If your afraid of being dependent, why dont you tell them you want to taper down to 30mg's and just stay at that? Ask them if you can take benzo's at a low dose like that. Or find a new place to go to.

I think you should just go back to doing dope. Sense your up and down all the time about what you want to do. Lets face it you have to take somthing, and sooner or later your going to. So might as well focus on harm reduction and not getting in trouble doing dope.

you've only been on methadone for a month! you haven't been on long enough to get those horrible methadone withdrawals people always make you fear.

the Tramadols and some kratom should hold you over fine. the combination of the two should have you sleeping at least 7 hours a night and avoiding most, if not all, of the WD's.

If its only been a month, you may be able to handle cold turkey, with some help like what's been suggested. Be wary of taking too much tramadol. Even though that stuff's not supposed to be addictive and "non" narcotic, if you take too much you have bad seizures. I did the methadone thing for over a year and was up to a whopping 160mg. I finally couldn't take it anymore. I called the clinic, said I was quitting "cold turkey" and wouldn't be back. They begged me not to because my dose was so high. Lived in a homeless shelter for 2 weeks for the withdrawals. I can't imagine ever going through hell like that again--and no benzos, hydros or anything else to soften the effects. It worked for me but I could just have easily had a seizure and died because there was no medical help available at the shelter. So, I can' advise it and suboxone may be an option (an expensive one, but I know some people its helped). As for me, I'm glad I did what I did but that pain was so bad that I'm not sure I'd do it all over again. Good luck!
