Hey everyone, I joined this forum back in 2015 when I received 2 shots of Invega Sustenna. Just wanted to offer some hope to those going through a difficult time and feeling like things are hopeless. It does get better. I do feel as though I've recovered and can live a happy life again.
It took about 8 months until I started noticing significant improvements. However, in the early stages of recovery, I was having suicidal ideations daily and was in a really dark place. I check back in on this forum periodically to see how people are doing.
I am actually starting Graduate School for Nursing at Johns Hopkins on January 22nd, 2024. My goal is to go into Psychiatric Nursing and try to help people as best I can. I am not against antipsychotic use altogether. For example, in the case of acute psychosis, where the patient has a history of violence and not being compliant with medications, then I can understand why an injection may be considered. Although, I do think it should be a last resort because of how harsh they can be.
I hope those of you struggling start to feel better soon. Things improve slowly, but they do improve. Try your best to get some exercise and eat healthy. These can expedite the healing. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself the way you would want someone you loved to be treated. Don't be too hard on yourself. There are people who care
