Mental Health Coming off Invega (Paliperidone, Xeplion) injections v. 7.0

Does anyone else feel less energetic and tend to get tired more easily after Invega? Before Invega I not only used to go to college and work part-time, but full-time at one point a few years ago doing a somewhat heavy labor job at a plant nursery, went to the gym after work, and even then still had some energy left. Nowadays I feel quite exhausted after simply going to the gym for a while or even just by walking for over an hour, it's absolutely pathetic where I am now. Somehow despite this I've lost a good portion of the weight I gained from Invega, certainly not at 183 pounds where I used to be but still better then I was a few months ago.

Can a gray matter regenerate? How come some people recover and some are doing it slowly?

I think it’s unfair to say someone hasnt recovered when they say they are. But I will say I think some people reach a plateau where they are not able to feel the same ways as before but that doesn’t mean they aren’t functional and happy and stable, and even if they aren’t able to feel the same way to them that could still be recovery
This is not true for everyone.

It's correct some don't recover
Some recover 100 percent

I too was one of the pessimists who thought people who said they recovered 100 percent were in denial

Invega is so bad I thought recovery was impossible

My psychiatrist believes that the idea that this desperate state of mine is caused by antipsychotic therapy is actually "my fixation and a deeply mistaken belief that needs to be treated. That drugs can't have a negative effect on cognitive abilities." But this is so wrong and so out of line with my experience that I just can't help but doubt their knowledge (I've never been so desperate in my life and such a backwards version of myself until I got that Xeplion poison). He also does logotherapy, but I didn't even experience an "L" from his logotherapy, all he told me was that I was a sick man from where my despair came from and that I needed to be treated with drugs. You have the feeling that the whole system hates you and wants to destroy you.

Can I please get the post again of people who have had significant recoveries. I had the Invega Sustenna 156mg shots about a week apart, the last one being on June 3rd. So i am in the very beginning of recovery and will not be resuming it as it caused me akathisia for about a month. Which I think I am just now getting over. I am still able to go for my walks at about 10,000 steps a day and find some minor levels of productivity in the day after that with minor levels of joy and satisfaction after completing it.

I was wondering if any of you are on a SSRI to help with the numbness of the come down of the drug. I read that the half life is 25-44 days. Anyways, I am worried about the sexual dysfunction. I did research and found it it stems from the Prolactin increase which can be subsided with things like vitamin E and B6 and other medicines. Have any of you tried doing this? We also don't really keep in touch with a majority of the people that are on here worrying and then disappear, how do we know that they too are recovery stories and just didn't have the motivation after the hell of going through it.

Anyway, definitely still feeling numb but through the positive stories on here I expect to have a full recovery. If not full at least 80%, all in good time. If anyone could provide the list of people who have mentioned healing in the 8-14 month range I would really appreciate it.

It just seems to me that the majority of people either have mentioned a massive recovery or have stopped responding and I am hoping those that stopped responding just happened to recover as well.

I write this with love and great hope for the future. Hope everyone is making the most of the day.

It’s good to see that you’re taking this in a calm manner, I think panicking will only make matters worse.

I have no clue how to lower prolactin, but cialis definitely helps the ED, just don’t expect to ejaculate normal loads.

SSRI’s will only prolong recovery and receptors are blocked anyway so I don’t see the point. Would you be able to feel an effect? Idk

My theory about the people who disappear is that they have recovered, otherwise I think we would have heard complaints. People mostly come on here to vent negative feelings, people don’t usually feel the need to rave about positive feelings the way they do negative. Once in a while we get a positive update from those who disappeared.

Keeping a positive mindset will make everything easier. You will only shoot yourself in the foot by worrying too much about recovery, it’ pointless. What helps is staying as productive as possible, pushing every day. It’s a struggle. I don’t see the point in taking the grief in advance because if/when we recover all that time spent worrying in bed would be a complete waste.

I was also panicky about recovery in the beginning, nothing good came out of it. Once I started to believe in recovery, everything started to improve. Right now the drug doesn’t stop me from working, exercising, socializing, you name it. Still have some issues, but I’m certain it’ll get better with time.

I don’t believe any of us has brain damage or any other serious complications. Maybe if you’re on it for 10+ years or so.

Stay strong everybody.

Correct it’s not true for everyone.I’m not in denial of other peoples recoveries , I was mainly also speaking from personal experience where I think I recovered a lot like my personality and things like that but I had certain things that I still felt didn’t get better years later
What have you noticed no improvement in?

My response to caffeine like is still not very high and I still have problems with motivation and fatigue and feeling refreshed after waking up, I think it’s somehow all connected though and I’m pretty sure this is from Abilify, not Invega or Risperdal. Like it doesn’t seem like it’s getting worse just staying at a plateau right now, I have noticed slight improvements but it’s very gradual, but it used to be much much worse where it made me suicidal

How long has it been since your last injection? I also lost my sensitivity to caffeine. Coffees used to give me euphoria now i feel very little

Invega shot was 5 years ago. Abilify was 3 1/2 years ago and Risperdal was 5 months ago. Abilify and Risperdal were in pill form. Invega and Risperdal I tolerated pretty well , Abilify was a nightmare for me. I’m sorry you lost your sensitivity to coffee, I hope you are able to regain your sensitivity to it in the future.
