Does anyone know why invega affects communication, comprehension and other cognitive abilities? I don’t really get it? It literally took my whole personality away but I am hopeful for recovery
“Dopamine has a role to play in controlling memory, mood, sleep, learning, concentration and body movements,” according to health direct. It’s hard to concentrate on the conversation if you can’t concentrate. Invega blocks dopamine so you’re experiencing a lack of all these abilities.

I hate losing my personality. Anyone lost theirs and recovered it? Or anyone know of people who did
I completely lost my personality. It has started to come back slowly though. Around month 7 it began to come back.

It would be great if ppl put last injection date in the signature so we don’t need to ask every time
That’s a good idea!
Hello everyone. I'm new here with the same type of problem. I received 4 injections of Xeplion in 4 months (the first 150 mg in December 2022, the others were 100 mg), and with the third my creativity and intelligence dropped drastically. My writing talent has been taken away from me and I can no longer do what I have been doing for over a decade.
The first two months when I thought it was something permanent were terrible and a real horror. But recently I read comments here from people who have recovered from that poison or are still recovering and the feeling of deep despair has finally subsided. People on the forum say that recovery lasts from 8 to 14 months (maybe more), but only if other antipsychotics are not taken during that period. A little hope really can be the tipping point between life and death.
Can someone please answer some questions for me: Are 4 injections of Xeplion considered a longer and more dangerous therapy? Does anyone know what lifestyle habits are best to adopt during this recovery period? What kind of diet, exercise (long walks, running) or something else? Will I get back my intelligence and creativity, and my talent for writing novels? Thanks in advance.
Hey, welcome to the thread! As for your questions: No, 4 injections is not a lot, there have been plenty of people with more injections that have healed. I received 5 total injections of invega sustenna. Over 12 injections is what I would consider to be a lot. From what I’ve experienced, the best lifestyle habits were exercising and maintaining a healthy sleep schedule. Also keeping busy as much as I could. Doing things like playing with my dog, going for walks, working out, and watching tv shows and movies. People are going to tell you a whole bunch of diets to follow, but personally, just eating 3-4 healthy meals was the best option for me. I have Eating grilled chicken, vegetables, rice, egg whites and oatmeal for breakfast, for a while now. I am beginning to lost the invega sustenna weight. You should get your intelligence back also. One thing I’ve found out while on invega sustenna (xeplion) is you can’t make promises. Most people do heal, I would say 90%-95% have healed in previous threads, so there is hope. I would just get ready for a long, grueling year. I am at 9.5 months and am doing ok. Still not fully healed, probably at 75%. Best wishes in your recovery!

Hello Patrik, welcome to the thread. I’m guessing you’re scandinavian by the way you spell your name. To answer your questions:

1. Four shots are not that many, but it only takes one jab in order to suffer all the side effects. It’s a very potent drug.

2. You should try to eat healthy nutritious food that keeps you full, alot of people gain weight uncontrollably.

3. Exercise is key. Try to maintain as much strength as you can, because this drug makes you very lazy. I would recommend short and intense strength sessions. I personally do low reps of my 80-90% of my max. I find endurance (high reps) to be very hard. Try doing some running to sweat out toxins and keep body weight under control.

Walk as much as you can, there are no downsides and it doesn’t require much energy. Incline on the treadmill is very effective as well.

4. Try to get as much sunshine as you can and stay as busy as possible during recovery. It’s important to fill the schedule with as many activities as possible, as time moves slowly when you’re anhedonic.

Good luck!

Thank you very much Baddream and Invegaishell for your answers and encouragement. What I had was too valuable to just give up. So now I have a fight ahead of me. I wish you all the best in your fight. Thanks again.

What kind of writing do you do? Maybe you can write some poetry about the xeplion experience. There’s a sea of material about this experience. Bust a rhyme 🤩

If you ever feel bad I used to paint like this https://painting4people.wixsite.com/ernhart
I had to delete the real website since it was too expensive to keep up and I’m not working anymore. It’s street art (black) and canvas art (white)

Wow that is genuinely very impressive, I'd legit even buy some of that artwork off of you, or at least I would if I wasn't broke and currently unemployed due to this. Drawing used to be one of my hobbies, I said used to because it was something I once did frequently but eventually did less of over time even before invega. But of course after that incident despite recovering significantly I still don't have the patience or motivation to draw like I used to. So now I'm curious, if you attempted to paint at this moment how would it look in comparison to your previous paintings? Hopefully one way or another you regain that talent back sooner or later.

Hi! Welcome! I’m happy you found this place and can connect with others and I’m glad the fear subsided for you. I too felt like things were permanent. So I can totally relate. I don’t really know for sure how dangerous 4 injections would be of Xeplion . For some, as little as 2 injections can cause some long lasting effects, unfortunately, based from what others have said but it really depends for each person. The lifestyle habits I adopted during recovery are to have a good sleep schedule, eat healthy, meditate, stay hydrated, and exercise every day as well as journal. I also like to occasionally make videos of myself to track my progress as well. The Exercise I do is: walking, running , swimming, lifting weights, squats , planks , push ups. I also do yoga and tai chi. I believe you will get your intelligence and creativity back as well as your talent for writing novels. Good luck on your recovery!

does anyone get dopamine rush like pre invega??
I notice things improving for what it’s worth. Like I’m enjoying listening to music more, I’m feeling more present in the moment, my lumosity scores are going up again, I have slightly more confidence in myself , I can feel joy at certain times. But I do think I have more to recover.

I used to be a great painter. I don’t know if I will have that talent back. Same with athletic ability.
You will get that talent back. And when it does come back, you will appreciate it more than someone who never lost it. And that will give you an edge as an artist that few have. Going mad is another one, so double good for you!

Here are some of my life drawings and figure studies from the last two weeks. I take classes again at the art museum since November and work on it when my 2 year old is sleeping. These are skills that i never thought i could regain - i am a different, but better artist than i would have been if id never taken invega , and the same will happen for you if you desire it

You can take APs during the time you're recovering if you need them, just don't get an injection. AP pills don't have the lasting effects of invega sustenna once you stop them. I took AP pills for a short time when I had psychosis again, but they did not affect or lengthen my recovery by a noticeable amount once I ceased taking them. Plan for what will happen if you have a psychotic relapse to ensure that you are not injected again.
4 injections are very few. Diet and exercise can help you, but the truth is that while finding a "lifestyle" to help recover can help give you a positive mindset and help you feel in control, nothing will actually cause recovery but time off the drug. Expect to start to feel "yourself" again around 9 months, and all of your intelligence, creativity and talent to be back within 2 years.

I'm glad you found hope here, this forum also guided and gave me hope at the time when I was recovering and felt hopeless as you did
