Mental Health Coming off Invega (Paliperidone, Xeplion) injections v. 7.0

Most of the people I've met that claim this are on some other medication, most usually APs. Being on any AP will block your dopamine receptors and cause anhedonia/other issues. People that go med free almost always recover

Yeah I think I’ll recover one day but when I come off. Probably before the 6th month mark in the recovery process, I’ll probably hallucinate because antipsychotics give you psychotic symptoms that you didn’t have before

In my years on this forum I seem to notice that rebound psychosis happens around the 12 month recovery mark. It happens to many but not all people, but everyone should be prepared & have a plan in place with you loved ones/doctor. Tell any psych or nurse that you are allergic to the invega injection because they are likely to give you what you had before. I've never seen anyone recover from being shot again after recovering once

Well I’m in that boat right now. I’ve recovered once from Invega Sustenna and then I got put on Abilify Maintena and then I was in the process of recovering from Abilify Maintena last summer but then I took it again after 3 months into recovery and I’ve been on it since August of 2022

I experienced terrible Akathisia, anhedonia, depersonalization, blank mind, no conscious, shuffled walking, no eye contact, inability to connect with people, extreme anxiety and acne.

i received 5 injections. 4 156mg and 1 234mg.

For the first 7 months I experienced terrible Akathisia, anhedonia, depersonalization, blank mind, no conscious, shuffled walking, no eye contact, inability to connect with people, extreme anxiety and acne.

At the end of month 7 I began to heal. My mood came back. I still have trouble with cognitive abilities. I can’t talk to new people or old friends, only family members. I am still not functional, but I am a lot better.

I see what you are saying. Invega is not literally burning in fire for eternity, you are right. I am not religious, so this is the closest thing to hell I have experienced on earth.

Right. Yeah I’ve experienced much worse things than Invega. But I feel for anybody that has to take these drugs. My grandmother was on Invega for the last 20 years of her life before she died of lung cancer. That’s some sad shit.

But her case of schizophrenia was very severe so she probably needed it

do you remember how long it took you to heal from invega the first time you took it?
 
Did any of you develop acne on your body? I have shoulder acne and also acne on my back that doesn’t go away. I’ve never had acne like this before, I’m thinking it has something to do with my hormones or something like that!

Yes, I have acne all offer my back. I haven’t had acne since high school so it is a surprise. I think Katrina mentioned she had acne as well and it went away at the year and a half mark.

I hope so as well. I wish you a speedy recovery too. I at least want to be a functional person again.

I have for the most part. It’s not the same as before though. It is Not as strong. Still way better than it was. I am at least attracted to females again.
