I have been taking diaz sporadically for 4 years now, usually around 10mg twice weekly for anxiety. Recently it hasn't been working aswell as usual and i think its time to quit, what would be the best way about going about this? taper or just stop all together

ALWAYS TAPER BENZODIAZEPINES.

Bam, said it, now you heed it.

A good way to do it is to take small increments off every 2 weeks. If you have tabs of 5mg then break those in 4 pieces each and 1.25mg will be your increment. This is best. If you have a 10mg pill, you can only break it in 4, then 2.5mg is your increment.

BUT YOU MUST TAPER.

If you suddenly quit you may get severe withdrawal featuring convulsions, and that withdrawal can last MANY months. Even if you promptly go back to the full 10 it still might take weeks of being sick to stabilize. So dont quit at once, taper.

Considering your case tapering is mandatory; don't be scared because it can be very easy and without any pain, consult a psichiatrist or a neurologist, expose your situation and create with him a tapering schedule.

Try just stopping and see if you have any physical withdrawal symptoms. That's an incredibly low dose, even with valiums half life I doubt you have built any tolerance and are sure to be near baseline.

You're eating the rough equivalent of 1mg xanax a week. Aka nothing at all.

You need to take valium everyday, because intermittent dosing means loads of tiny cold turkeys.
I was an intermittent doser.
There is a safe way to get off benzos painlessley by tapering daily.
I taper about 0.3% daily, and am managing to lose it in a smooth manner with no major problems and I am down to 2.2mg.
