Coming down off amphetamines? (i.e. slowing down heart?)

hey - i dont really do stimulants anymore, especially meth, but every now and again i'll inadvertently get it in an E pill. my question is this: ESPECIALLY after doing straight meth, but also to a lesser extent when doing pills that have a little bit of amphetamine in them, i notice that LONG after i've come down, my heart is still racing. is there a way to combat this? it's just.... kind of, really uncomfortable. do lighter opiates (poppy tea, etc) or anti-anxiety meds (xanax, valium, etc) help at all? im just curious, cause when im done being high, i like to be TOTALLY done being high. its just my heart that keeps on a racing!

They do not, but in combination they can cause flutters. I'd take an aspirin to combat vasoconstrictive damage by thinning ones blood. Otherwise sleep food and water are the best ways to keep yourself from experiencing side effects.

Try and eat a good meal and go to sleep, benzos or other depressents could help. You could also try taking holy basil or 5-HTP to help you sleep, but they wouldn't be as effective as benzos or opiates.

Poppy tea isn't by any means a light opiate by the way, it's actually a quite strong one. If the pods are good then poppy tea results in a very solid high, equal to many pharmaceutical opiates and better then some of them. I find the high to be more enjoyable then most pills actually, when it's done right.

Usually with amphetamines you'll experience a few of the lingering negative effects when coming down. Taking benzodiazepines will counterattack those side-effects. Thats one of the many uses of benzodiazepines; stimulant comedown and they don't increase heart rate, they do the opposite.

Benzos help and the more sedating the better for a amphetamine comedown. Temazepam, nitrazepam or even diazepam are good ones for coming down. Failing those either benzo will do.

Also drink alot of water and eat something. Everytime my heart has gone wacky on amphetamines is because of not drinking enough fluids and not eating.

I'll add....even if you don't think you're drinking anything with caffeine in it, check. Cause I've noticed that sometimes, it varies...even a small amount of caffeine that's in a can of coke can bring back my adderall effects and increase my heart rate again. I haven't had alot of problems with that though...cause I mostly use it theraputically as rx'd for adhd, and it seems to calm me and lower my heart rate.

Benzos, or any CNS depressant, would be the obvious choice to lower your heart rate. But since I'm dependent on benzos and have a sky-high tolerance to them, I have to use anti-psychotics like Seroquel or even Haldol to sedate me.
