Do you get a comedown? If so, is it just for a day / a couple of days or can it last a while?
How much time is there between your use of MDMA and when you experience your comedown?

when i was a noob and younger i didnt really get comedowns, more just lovely after glows. as i got older and was using/abusing md too often i did start getting chronic comedowns, as all do. comedowns could last between 2 days to 4-5 days, depending on how reckless i was. comedown would start as soon as the come up had peaked, to 4-5 days afterwards at its worst, in varying stages. best to use md as sparingly as possible. redosing in the one night/sesh is also not very healthy. play it safe, show it respect, and you will be all the better for it in the long run. md abuse leads to some pretty fucked up side effects and really is not worth it.

^ You seem very experienced with MDMA, I can relate to the no comedowns and lovely afterglows though.
Only been rolling for about 5 months every other weekend, I can only remember one comedown and I was a little depressed for the whole of one day - 3 days after rolling.

im sure there are others here with much more experience, though i have given it a good run in my time, and i wish i hadn't pushed it as far as i have! at first it seems like you cant go wrong with the stuff, well you can. just show it respect and dont go over board, and its all good. the rule around here is no more than two doses in a night/sesh. and one sesh. every three months. personally i think you can push it a little more than that, though this is a harm reduction site and it is better to be safe than sorry. listen to your body.

I had a bad experience from it last weekend so yes I am leaving a month (at least) between rolls from now on.

well, you don't know what are OP's preferences. if all he's worried about is brain damage, *never* doing MD is ideal. that is because nowadays, many if not most researchers believe MDMA and MDA are neurotoxic. even if you drop just once every three months, you're probably still causing damage to your brain.

if, instead, he wants to space his use so he can enjoy the "full" experience every time, i don't think you can give a suggestion of "once per month max, preferably only once every three months." it is my understanding that we simply don't know yet how long it takes until your serotonin levels are restored. from what i've read (i'm just a layperson, though), it is actually likely that it takes *less* than a month for SERT density to recover.

So we should be advising people to roll as often as possible then? I can't find any sense in what you're saying.

This is a harm reduction board, not a get as high as often as you can get away with it board.

Not to mention, there is quite a large amount of personal testimonials that say that spacing MDMA use by only once a month even is not safe enough, and I agree with them. The studies you bring u[ are only talking about ONE single dose... not repeated doses month after month for years at a time. This is called abuse, and will lead to detrimental effects later on.

I don't know the OP's preferences, but, as is done with most posts in this forum, I posted on the assumption that they were aware that MDMA is neurotoxic.

And you're correct - we don't know how long it takes for serotonin levels to fully restore, but in the interest of HR I would err on the side of caution. As such, I still maintain that once per month would be the ABSOLUTE maximum I would recommend based on what is currently known, and once every three months + would be ideal.

Yes not rolling at all would be ideal. If you must roll, 3 months should be the minimum. Honestly no one really knows how long it takes for serotonin to regather, the pro mdma research says that by 1 month you will be around baseline. But then there are other research papers that say there is a long term reorganization of your serotoinin, meaning it is sprouting in new areas and abnormally. So it's a very touchy subject, anyways the longer you wait the better man.

when I was a noob roller I just had afterglows. The comedown got pretty bad once I started rolling every 3 weeks. My last come down was kinda harsh after redosing like a idiot eating close a half gram of crystal md in a night.

So what does that mean.

Keep your dose and ONLY ONE DOSE at 120-150mg pure mdma and do not redose. and wait 3 months at least in between rolls and you shall find the comedowns much easier.

I never used to get comedowns always just a gradual return to baseline/afterglow, however after abusing every weekend for 3 months straight the beautiful afterglows start to become a real scattered, shitty feeling. If there meth in your pills aswell or if you use in combo with meth the comedown will be pretty shit

Your body will most likely get you through the experience comfortably at first. But Mdma is like any drug in that the comedown worsens with abuse, probably because it is messing with your liver enzymes, or depleting something that is required to process the drug and that isn't replenished fast enough. Basically doing a drug too frequently wears your body out and makes it less able to deal with the drug; your reaction to the drug will become negative over time.

Eventually the comedown will become so severe that you will no longer be able to use the drug. This happened to me with alcohol - when I first started getting drunk, I felt perfectly fine the next day. After drinking too much for 4 years I was getting liver pains for up to a week, I felt absolutely filthy, disgusting, and braindead for multiple days and it caused me so much suffering that I never drink anymore. Surprise, surprise - nowadays if I choose to have drinks (always a bad and rare decision) I don't get those super bad hangovers anymore.

The comedown also depends on the doses you are taking, again exemplified by alcohol. The more drugs you take in a night, the worse your comedown will be.

I'm unsure if this would qualify as a comedown, but another thing that can happen after extensive use is the development of intense cravings after the high wears off. This happened to me with pot. At first, I never got a comedown or any unusual feelings after smoking pot. Nowadays, I will freak out and become borderline psychotic and extremely impulsive if I don't smoke weed for a day or so. The negative feelings I experience on the weed comedown have kept me stoned for years. If it was up to me, I would smoke pot once at the end of the day because that is what is best for me, but my reaction to the drug has changed, forcing me into chronic use, or the experience of debilitating cravings and the suffering of physical withdrawal symptoms for up to a month after my previous smoke. The utter compulsiveness of it all makes it really tough for me to wait until the end of the day. Needless to say, this makes it very tough to moderate my use of this drug, and that was never the case initially.

I did Mdma around 30 times. The thing about Mdma is that it never felt bad for my body at first. Even at the tail end of my use, I would actually feel better than usual the next day. However, I began to receive warning signs that it wasn't the Godsend I originally though it was, and I began to become aware that it was a disgusting toxic lab chemical for my body. I believe if I were to continue using, I would have ran into severe comedowns. I haven't used Mdma in 18 months, and even still, I would not feel the least bit comfortable taking it right now and you couldn't pay me to do so. I believe that these feelings are permanent - once you realize what Mdma is actually doing to you, it completely loses its appeal. Enjoy the magic before you come to this understanding.

I believe that the side effects of using Mdma take a while to become apparent sometimes. Just because you feel fine the next day, doesn't mean that it isn't already fucking with you. Six months down the road, you might find yourself running into unexplainable emotional outbursts, impulsive behaviour, and a general lack of enthusiasm for socializing / interacting with fellow humans. It is silently deadly. If you don't have a comedown isn't a very good reason to assume your use of the drug is harmless and safe.

I've only done MDMA twice, once last weekend and then about 4 months before that. The first time i had no comedown whatsoever- it was at a festival with some friends and afterwards we just got some food, smoked a few jays and talked about how awesome it was. The second time, when the roll finished, it seemed to hit me very quickly, like i instantly became sober and tired- that fucked me over a bit. I just felt a bit sad and had a massive yearn to feel like i did when i was rolling, felt noticably better after some sleep and had a kind of comedown/afterglow thing where my mind and body felt noticably drained of things that it needed but i was just so fucking pumped on what I had just experienced that i wasn't too bothered. I think to a certain extent small comedowns are a mind over matter thing, however bad comedowns sound like a completely different beast. MDMA is an incredible, love inducing, connection making creation of man. It was powerful enough to induce a second summer of love- however it has the ability to deprive your body of everything it needs to function happily- so make sure you space out your rolls.

Comedowns/hangovers SUCK!
I try to get as much sleep as possible, take a multi vitamin, eat some food (healthy!!), and keep myself hydrated. Advil is usually a necessity for the day after as well.

In my experience it really depends.
Actually i think now i'm more comfortable with a comedown.
If i roll it's usually on saturday, so sunday is somehow reserved for afterglow and on monday i feel really shitty.
After that i feel fine, maybe a bit tired but nothing notable.
The usual dose is between 100 mg and 150 mg without redosing, some weed and vodka/sprite shots.

As i look in the past, my comedowns were really bad. Some type of insomnia, tiredness for almost whole week, shitty feelings overall.

Of course the difference for that is that i roll in timespan of 45 days minimum and i don't do any other drugs between rolling sessions.
In fact if i do drugs it's MDMA + weed only.

Afterglows and no comedown were common at a spacing of 4weeks+. Once I started having 2 or 3 week breaks, I started to get no afterglow and be a little irritable during the week. I'd be ok by the weekend.

Recently I had a usual 3-week break and I had a rotten comedown. Lasted 1 week mostly, and my head was a little off balance for the 2nd week.

I have noticed that the cleaner the MDMA, the less of the comedown - that is that really clean clear high MDMA with clear vision. The slightly more wasted version of MDMA as found in a lot of pills, seems to be less purified and consequently, gives me a nastier comedown.

I always have some kind of comedown, be it with an early afterglow or not. Only drug I never really feel like hit after Is ketamine.
