Stimulants Comedown/Tolerance Cocktail?

(my apologies if there's a mega thread or something for this, i was unable to find one!)

after doing some digging through the forums, it seems like there's a couple of different supplements one can take to control tolerance and potentially ease the comedown of dextroamphetamines (im mainly speaking of adderall here but im sure it applies to all the different brand names?):

l-tyrosine, dxm, n-acetyl cysteine (NAC)
my first question: does anyone else use a similar cocktail of supplements for this purpose?

if so, what would be an optimal schedule for this? it seems that the l-tyrosine is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, probably BEFORE the adderall. as for the other two, im at a loss. any thoughts / suggestions?

Do you have sources for this? I'm not well versed enough in amphetamines to know if these are commonly used. I assume the theory would be l-tyrosine as a daily supplement builds up neurotransmitter levels, DXM taken shortly before increases serotonin levels, and NAC taken after the high might shorten the comedown by similar action to its use in acetaminophen poisoning.

Too much mixing in the brain for me to be comfortable and as I said this is just possible guidance on where to start looking.

DXM in the morning (I use Delsym, 5-10ml) and L-Tyrosine just before each dose wears off. Also, add Magnesium Glycinate at bedtime. Perfect amp cocktail!

@amapola: i don't know if they're "commonly" used, but there seem to be some positive user testimonials; the only sources i have are various forum threads from a variety of communities, so nothing concrete or reliable. i appreciate your input though, you don't think it's a particularly dangerous combination though, do you?

@tambourine-man: do you find that the time release DXM works better? and what is the practical difference between the magnesium glycinate and cirate for example?

thanks!

I have used that combo. The l-tyrosine is a real god-send for me, because it helped restore dopamine levels. For me, my depression is pretty dopamine based (at least what I've found), so l-tyrosine seems to help with that. It is also mildly stimulating.

I've heard of people using DXM for various reasons. I've heard that DXM is an NDMA agonist (or something), so it helps with tolerance. It apparently helps reset the receptors amphetamine uses.

Never heard of NAC tho. best of luck.

Do not Mix Adderall and tyrosine

You don't know me, but I feel it is my moral obligation to share with you what I know...

About me:
I have no thyroid (surgery following Hashimoto's Thyroiditis), plus I have narcolepsy. I take Synthroid for Hypothyroidism and Adderall for the narcolepsy. I don't like the Adderall, so I have been looking for an alternative. In my research I found L-Tyrosine. I wanted to check for drug interactions (I am very cautious about these things) and found that Adderall and L-Tyrosine should not be taken together and could have deadly affects. PLEASE DON'T MIX THESE!

I wish you all the luck in the world with your quest to stop taking Adderall, but perhaps slowly reducing the dosage under doctor supervision is a safer alternative than taking more meds. If not that, then see if there is another medication like Adderall that your doc can switch you to that won't interact with the L-Tyrosine.
