combo of otc meds causing seratonin release?

A long time ago, before I started rolling, I was drinking and fooling around with my wife when I was overwhelmed by a rush of being loved up. It felt just like the glow I get from e. Tonight I had not been drinking and took 2 ephedrine tabs to wake me up a bit.It had been about 36 hours since sleeping any. I decided to go to bed after 1.5 hours since I was still dragging. I took a nyquil gel cap nightime to combat a cold I have. A short while later (now) I feel REAL good. Not rolling good but like I am about to blow up any second. Add a good beer buzz to todays mix and I beleive I have recreated the combo that gave me my pre-rolling-days glow.
I am wondering if there is something to the combo I had. It is the same as the long ago bit maby more ephedrine. I was in bad need of sleep in both cases.
The meds are:2+ ephedrine25mg/guaffinessin200mg
2ea Nyquil Nighttime gelcaps
acetomophin 500mg
dextromethorophan 20mg
pseudoephedrine hcl 60mg
doxylamine 12.5mg
after about an hour ii feel nice. Easy breathing a little tingly I feel like I need to hug someone.
anybody have similar experienced with similar combos?
It seems repeatable I'll brobably give it another try tomorrow if I don't feel like hell

I think the dextromethorphan or DXM was the main influence. Most of that stuff is in regular cough syrup. When I get a cold and take a double or triple dose of cough medicine, I tend to be very lightheaded and floaty. It's a huge relief on the cold.
Anyways, serotonin would not be released from these drugs, and that's not what you were experiencing.

Actually don't count on that Dr. DXM plus SSRIs is one of the most common (after things like e) causes of serotonin syndrome. Cases have been reported with people on SSRIs taking medically normal doses of DXM.
The amount of DXM he is taking (assuming it is a reasonable amount in the Nyquil) should only be borderline psychoactive.
Guaffinessin is a alpha_1 agonist. Ephedrine does partially block serotonin reuptake (I believe) amoung other things and psuedoephedrine is similar with a slightly differnt profile.
Throw in some H1 antagonists (the Nyquil and the doxylamine) with are both going to be anti-chlorogenetics who the fuck knows what is causing it.
In any case it may be significantly placebo. If not it is still probably very individual specific. My personal expermiments to replicate serotonin sydrome with SSRIs and significant DXM doses failed miserably so these sort of things seem to vary alot from person to person.
Ohh and remember serotonin release is NOT what makes ecstasy ecstacy like. A number of similar compounds which produce similar serotonin release as ecstasy do not replicate the subjective effects (i.e. r-MDMA, mCPP etc..)

Ephedrine does increase serotonin levels, and this combined with the DXM would create a type of serotonin-syndrome like high. Be careful with this combo; don't overdo it or you could become quite uncomfortable.

I'm sure the lack of sleep was just as much of a factor as the drugs.

Thanks for the input. I have wondered how I got the effects in the first experience and so many things were similar that I felt there must be a connection.

fairnymph I would change that would to a theoretically could. As I mentioned I personally have tried to induce this with much higher DXM dosages plus stronger reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and haven't gotten any effect.
I think soviet has it nailed here. Yes Serotonin Syndrome could happen (and may have indeed happened) but these drugs are very rarely in this combo going to do this.
