Opioids Combo - Codeine, DXM and promethazine

I was researching codeine potentiators and read that promethazine causes the liver to metabolise codeine into morphine at a higher rate. On top of that DXM is a well known potentiator so I decided to test out the combo.

11:30 - I took 50mg promethazine, 50mg DXM and about 100mg codeine that I had left over from the night before. 100mg codeine isn't enough so I did another CWE.

12:00 - Drowsy as hell. I can barely keep my eyes open.

12:10 - Took another 250mg of codeine. Its a challenge making this thread cuz I'm so drowsy, the only thing keeping me from going to bed is my curiosity about how these 2 drugs will potentiate the codeine.

12:45 - I'm feeling opioid effects now but I cant enjoy them cuz im so sleepy.

This is probably a very good combo if its CNS depressant effects you're after but I already have a very calm CNS so CNS depressants make me sleepy as hell. I take opioids for the euphoria they induce but the reason I seek the euphoria is because they make pursuing my life mission (which at the moment requires me to gain as much knowledge as I can) much more fun but I can't do that if I'm this drowsy. I'm tempted to take some dexedrine to counteract the drowsiness but from what I've read amphetamines have negative interactions with all 3 of these drugs so that could very well kill me.

1:00 - This drowsiness is wearing off rapidly and being replaced with opioid euphoria. Feels a bit like the onset of stronger opioids like heroin.

1:15 - The promethazine and DXM are clearly potentiating the codeine greatly. I feel more like I'm on heroin, I'm even nodding a bit which I have never once done on codeine before.

for me thats one of the drug-combos i like the most. i usually take 60mgs of dxm like 1 hour before for potentiating, then drink my codeine/prometh (also known as "syrup" or "lean") whats like 400mg of codeine and 100-150mg of prometh. 1 hour later im high as fuck , but i recommend not to use any kind of upper (coke , amps etc.) with that cause you will hallucinate and not know what youre doin.....thats how i lost my last job....syrup&coke=bad idea!!
 
I honestly dont find promethazine to do anything special for codeine; just adds to sedation.
If i took a couple hundred mg of codeine i'd feel it kicking in, no question about it. If i'd taken prometh before i'd only notice a slight increase in sedation on top of the prometh.
 
Thanks for posting, though this is probably more suited for the Trip Reports Section of Bluelight. Regardless, im fairly certain that most combination threads aren't allowed either.
 
Promethazine has the opposite effect, it actually inhibits the enzyme that converts codeine into morphine, weakening it.

It does add to sedation, but you took far too much, which is why you were so drowsy.
 
Yeah combos and trip reports are really OD material. I'm going to close this but if you want to recreate it in Trip Reports that's fine. If you are looking for information on the enzyme interaction of codeine to morphine via CYP450 2D6 then check out our potentiation thread as found in the OD Directory in my signature. If you want to talk more about the subjective effects and dosing a sedative like promethazine with codeine then BDD would be more appropriate.
