Combining Oxy and Propoxyphene?

Sup BDD, long time no see.

Now, I used to be a daily Oxycodone user (80mg+), back in 2008, and I've used it maybe once per year since then, just as a treat.

I recently came into possession of a fair bit of propoxyphene (both w/APAP and pure), as well as 25mg of Oxycodone, and my good friend and I want to have a great night tonight.

We're going to have 12.5mg of oxy each, and I was trying to decide if it was worth taking any propoxy? I've had it on its own before, and rather enjoyed it, a subtle drug similar to codeine it seemed. Would it be a waste to take it on top of the oxy? I just worry about tolerance, I still use Codeine semi-regularly (maybe twice a month), and worry that the oxycodone won't be much!

Also, orally is the best idea for dosing this small amount of oxy, for us to have a good night, would I be correct?


EDIT: In the interests of harm reduction, we decided to just take the Oxycodone today. I didn't feel too comfortable about mixing a standard opiate with one thats less standard... interactions can be hard to pick :)

I'd still love for some info though!

Propoxyphene was taken off the market because it causes heart problems. I use to take darvocets for several years for back pain & it helped. As far as getting high on Darvocets, I never saw the same great feeling I would get from hydrocodone in Darvocets. If you are using them for pain, they work great but I would only use the Oxy & save the Darvs for when you have legitimate pain.
 
I agree with TLB, Darvocet is fairly weak as a painkiller and basically useless as a recreational drug, although some people do get an effect off it (don't expect much if you have any opiate tolerance at all).

Darvocet was taken off the market for good reason. Take the other poster's advice and save the Darvocet for another day.
 
Darvocet while on oxy would be a little like a cup of coffee after a shot of meth. Good choice to save them. That said I find them worth doing, so long as you don't have tolerance.
 
I've only taken Darvocet once before, and rather enjoyed it :) I'm looking forward to taking it later today! I had a brilliant night on oxy out on the town, was fantastic fun :)

Darvocet is a weak, terrible drug and its also dangerous. You can suffer heart attacks from it. Darvocet will really fuck up your oxycodone high, I've tried taking it with Vicodin and ended up wishing I had only taken the hydrocodone. Its a fully synthetic opioid and its effects alter the high of other opiates. It sort of dulls the high.

Toss the propoxyhene and just take the oxycodone.

Back in the days when local law enforcement believe I was making meth I used to take the filters and put them in the coffee pot afterwords. Zzzzzoooommmmm
 
(Dextro)propoxyphene is not only useless for recreational use but also useless for pain. I have taken it in the form of darvon-N which is propoxyphene napsylate and it only made me puke. I took about 300mg's on one occasion and it made me throw up so hard i busted blood vessels in my face 8o . So yeah it's dangerous and useless. I would rather tramadol then that garbage and that's saying alot.

Ive had the Darvon in capsule form that you're talking about w/o the tylenol & it didnt do much for me. Darvon has to be mixed with tylenol or else it s worthless. I use to take Darvocets because I was too sensitive towards Vicodin & Percs.

Darvocets worked great for my pain over several years until the reports of how bad they are for you came out & thats when I tried Vicodin again & I seemed tolerate it this time around.
 
I find it odd that no one thinks propoxyphene/apap has NO recreational effect...

<long explanation you can skip: "my tolerance is high">
MY tolerance used to be about 4-5 80mg OC/ABGs a day at its max. Lasted 3 years, came up pretty fast with unusually high starting tolerances for almost any substance. Average was proabably like 150-200 a day, distinctly remember driving and feeling how my running nose was freezing and made a joke about how it was probably bad if I did so much oxy that my nose was always cold, but it wasn't funny, I was just high. After several completed physical withdrawls, a couple times attempting to completely quit - and several other times secluding myself in my apt room to force withdrawal when I ran out simply to keep my tolerance from getting any higher (or at least that was my reasoning) and avoid the withdrawal from hell I first endured.
After several cycles like this and still staying at 150-400mg of oxy a day or withdrawal, I found suboxone and have taken it for 3 additional years, starting at 24 mg a day and down to 8-12mg a day. Of course I still give in and do oxycodone, just more like once a month.

Anyways, despite this very high tolerance - I have noticed a 'slight buzz' off propoxyphene/apap with 4 or more (whatever mg those pink things are...) Yes, just a slight buzz - but with my tolerance, being able to feel it, and the possiblity to combine opiods, seems like it is worth taking, at least as much as its worth taking a small benzo dose or cimetidine/grape fruit juice or smoking kind bud for the potentiation or synergy possibilities. would I be wrong in this assumption?? Like I could get an ok buzz from 8 Tyl #3, but I forgot the increased histamine associated and was too busy having an incredibly itchy back driving me nuts to notice any buzz.... but I can say the propoxyphene was more than placebo at the least, wouldn't it be worth taking if already using said oxy?
 
It's really up to you. As TLB and other posters mentioned, there are risks that (dextro)propoxyphene has that other opiates don't have. I'm surprised that you feel anything at all off it considering your tolerance though!
