Hey guys, I found this dailymail propaganda article which says some 21 year old died from taking etizolam for his anxiety. It says he "underestimated its potency"..

It doesn't mention any other drugs he ingested so I find this really odd. Benzos alone have a high safty range and I've always been under the impression you could ingest some pretty high dosages and your heart would still keep on beating

Here's a link to the article

If i understand correctly, the DailyMail is a well known onion-like parody newspaper. Im not even going to take the time to read it since its guaranteed either super exaggerated or missing a lot of information

They are a "legitimate" news company. I say it like that because it is ultra Conservative propaganda. I believe they are based in the UK and owned by Rupert Murdoch.

I took 250mgs of Etizolam within a day and didn't die or go into a coma. I blacked out for the best part of a week though. I got a really uneven haircut, probably from falling asleep in the barber chair. I also broke a bunch of dishes in my parents kitchen and then locked myself outside and had to wake them up to get in, they had to walk past the mess to unlock the door. It was never spoken of again. But! I didn't die. There could be many contributing factors to him dieing of respiratory depression if in fact it was that, he could have also been on another medication, mixed it with other downers, or maybe a pre-existing medical condition. Who knows?

I think it"s much more likely that he died from choking on his own vomit than respiratory depression.

There"s a few glaring errors first of all it says etizolam is a potent anti-depressant. I think anxiolytic is the word they were looking for.
Then they say Etizolama method of action is through respiratory depression which makes no sense at all , for starters it"s a side effect and a negligeable one too unless etizolam is mixed with other substances that affect respiration significantly.

Apparently the guy /gal/ chimp who wrote it did not only have 0 medical knowledge but it wasn't into studying law either they say etizolam falls into the class of drugs that is legal for lab well I think this should read substance and not drug , it's a detail but important from a legal perspective.

While it is about as reliable a source of ethical journalism, objective reporting snd intelligent discourse as a satirical newspaper - it sadly masquerades as genuine reportage - it is sadly not (intentionally) satire, but a classic example of a trashy tabloid scandal rag.
A propaganda vehicle for that crass reprobate Rupert Murdoch.

It's Fox News, UK style.

^^ooh I gotcha. I find it ridiculous that people can publish so much misinformation and shit, and that the general population will believe it. Etizolam has been a godsend to me for my anxiety, although I abused the living hell out of it I never once felt like I could die on just etizolam. I have taken like 20-25mg and slept for a solid 20 hours.

A troubling trend that I have been observing here is the seeming dismissal of any drug death as scare journalism.

Yes, there is an ulterior motive with these stories, and there are clear sensationalist elements, but to jump to the conclusion that the story is completely fabricated and that there is no risk in taking an unknown amount of etizolam is honestly just as intellectually dishonest as the fucks at daily mail.

I could see it fairly reasonable that some dude getting pure etizolam could have necked a gram of powder in a blackout and kicked it, and either had undetected drugs/alcohol in his system, choked on his own vomit, or straight up had respiratoru depression due to his phisiology.

I remember a thread a while back where some kid died after eating like a gram or so of Dpt and there were choruses of "its a tryptamine, it could never kill anybody." Even though drugs such as dpt and etizolam are rather safe at reasonable dosages, it does not mean that gross overdose is at all safe, and the fact that there is such disbelief whenever any such fatalities occurs is a commission of mass delusion.

We all take risks by being drug people. There are risks in everything, and it is against the spirit of harm reduction (this still is a hr forum right?) to deny these risks. It is frankly stupid to call bullshit on anything we disagree with, where we could analyze the situation for what went wrong and try to take something away from the tragedy other than daily mail is a shite paper, which to be honest is pretty common knowledge.

^ really good post, thanks. These things need to be said once in a while, because it is hard not to be jaded about mass media (and government) bullshit about drugs.
It's best to keep an open mind, even if we have become so used to saying "oh, bullshit" to media reports involving drugs.
