my friend was talking his doctor about the stupidly high price of lyrica. so insted of giving him his usual lyrica script she prescribe him some gabapentin the doctor said it is pretty much the same as lyrica but stronger and is on the PBS so its only like 5 bucks a box rather than the 190 a box u pay for lyrica!
after a quick wiki search i saw that the chemical makeup of gabapentin is VERY similar to pregabalin but is missing the H molecule

so yeah my question is will gabapentin work the same as lyrica does with amplifying benzos and opiates??? sorry if this sounds stupid but its got me wondering and no one really knew that lyrica was recreational til a few months ago

Lyrica was basically the pharma's answer when they lost their patent and generics of Neurontin were made.
Lyrica is *suppose* to be a lot stronger. Gabapentin doesn't help my diabetic neuropathy. Dr is finally switchin me to Lyrica after doin my insur's try/fail test. Basically 30 days on 1.8 grams gaba then I can get my Lyrica covered.
I've personally taken 4.2 grams of gabapentin and it does crap, for ME.
Hopefully your friend can find some relief on gaba, but I'm leanin towards not unfortunately bc he was on Lyrica, the "stronger" of the two.

No sorry but lyrica is quite a bit stronger than gabapentin. If i had to guess from experience i would say 300 mg lyrica is about the same as 800-1000 mg of gaba, but that is just based on my experience. I do know for a fact that mg wise, lyrica is a lot stronger though and has less side effects for most people. gaba in high doses is essential about the same as lyrica in medium doses though.
