cold water extraction

Hi there,

Is a cold water extraction worth doing with nurofen plus??? as i read somewhere that it is impossible to extract the condeine from the ibuprofen due to the ibuprofen being just as soluble in water as codeine.

Has anyone ever tried this with nurofen plus? Or can any one offer any advise please?

Yes it is possible. Ibuprofen is not as soluble as codeine and will be extracted in the same way as APAP/paracetamol. You should do it, infact - ibuprofen can irritate the stomach to the point of causing bleeds, and can damage the kidneys too.

Nurofen plus seems to clog filters more unfortunately so you might want to do it using some loosly woven fabric first before the proper filter.

Ibuprofen certainly can and should be extracted out using CWE's - if you search around here, you'll find lots of info on CWE'ing ibuprofen and probably the specific pills you have as well.

I thought I remembered how to do CWE, but started with cold water and didn't shake the powder/water mixture very well. I did stir the mixture. Have I wasted my pills or will this still work?

Should work, and you can always filter off the water and extract the sludge again.
