Coedine W/ high morphine conversion

Ok, I remember reading that there was some certain chemical that helped the coedine convert into morphine. Thus making coedine a much much better drug. I think I also remember that it has since been put under harsh regulations...
Anyone know what I am speaking off?
 
I was under the impression that promethazine (phenergen) an anti-histamine did this. However personal experience suggests it isn't that big an effect...and I am unaware about any restrictions.
If you mean as in chemical conversion outside of the body...then yes I believe the chemicals you need are list I....but not really sure.
 
No, I don't think it's outside the body.
I think you take some chemical with the coedine and it boosts the coedine conversion. Instead of getting like for example 20% conversion into morphine it's boosted to like 80%.
 
This cold water guy seems to be full of shit. On the same page he recommends P450 inhibitors and stimulators. The vast majority of the effect of codeine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone is through their bio-conversion via CYP450 2D6 enzymes to morphine, hydromorphine, and oxymorphine respectively. Inhibiting this process seeems sort of stupid...it would last longer but you wouldn't get as large an effect.

I think that you are thinking of Doriden, or glutethamide. I wrote some on this topic earlier. Do a search for glutethamide or doriden. This is not really available anymore, but used to be prescribed for sleep problems. When taken w/codiene (a set) it boosted the amount of codiene demethylated into morphine in the brain. Good luck finding it though.
 
The route which codeine is converted to morphine in the body is though an enzyme, CYP2d6 specifically, at a rate of 10% in a normal person.
This conversion can be either inhibited or increased, though the use of Enzyme inducers or inhibitors. All of the fairly usefull drugs which have the inducing action are restricted, meprobamate is one, glutethimide is the most popular though and was used with codeine in place of a morphine based opiate in many cases on the street. Promethazine appears to have this effect as well though i dont know offhand if its due to CYP2d6 or another mechanism.
This idea is basically a lost cause, because if you can get any amount of the chemicals that induce the enzyme, you can probably also get a real opiate just as easily.

If mepobromate is one of the enzyme inducers, then it is fairly easy to get online, AND, soma is metabolized into mepobromate, which could explain the popularity of the soma/opiate combos.
