Codeine

On a few occasions when I've taken codeine syrup mixed up with sprite, I've had tingling lips? I don't think its an allergic reaction, and it's only happened a few times. Is this part of the high or something else? And would taking promethazine help?

histamine release, very common occurrence with codeine.
promethazine will help, with the added bonus of increasing sedation.
