Hi Guys / Gals
I am new to this site so I thought I would introduce myself. I have come here because I have a problem known as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. It causes (unsurprisingly!) severe vomiting and severe abdominal pain for 12 hours to days at a time. I have had it for 16 years and gone to emergency rooms (Accident and Emergency departments) many times over the years and over the world. In every one, they give me IV fluids to rehydrate me and give me some energy, then they give anti vomiting drugs (anti-emetics) like Maxalon, cyclazine and Ondansetron. These don't work! Then eventually they treat the pain. The most effective treatment is IV pethidine and for a while my doctor gave me pethidine to administer myself at home (I am a trained phlebotomist so I can do that safely!). She also gave me 30mg codeine tablets to try to prevent an attack at the early stages when I may be able to keep pills down. She then decided that it would be better (for her, not me!) if I called an emergency ambulance and went 23 miles to the nearest hospital to be treated.
I can't keep any pills down while vomiting every 2 -5 minutes and I don't want to spend my life in agonising pain waiting for ambulances and being stuck in A and E afterwards. Long story short. I want to try injecting codeine from my pills. They are quite small and have 30mg per pill.
How best to do this? I kept hold of some needles and syringes. Can I crush the pills up and dissolve in water then inject the solution after filtering? That makes sense to me but I want to not die by accident!
