Opioids Codeine Syrup for Bupe Withdrawal

I should first say that it is not my purpose in this thread to elicit responses concerned with ways to scam or deceive chemists; I am merely seeking some opinions on this specific question: if I were to visit a pharmacy and speak honestly with the pharmacist, and tell him that I stopped my subs a few days ago after a long taper, but that since then I have not slept due to RLS (this is all true), and if I were to ask him if he would be willing to sell me some codeine syrup to help with sleep, would this likely irritate him or make him angry?

I know this walks a fine line between compliance with forum guidelines and violation of them, but I'll reiterate that I'm not trying to dupe anyone, but asking for opinions on how a chemist might respond to honesty in this way. If people think that he would respond negatively, I will simply not go to any chemist, viz., I will not in that case deceive anyone.

I don't know how things are in your area but in my neck of the woods the pharmacist would likely laugh at me and tell me no.
 
Yeah, fuck. It's just such a shame because I am so totally committed to getting clean, but I suppose the pharmacist would just think I'm a junky trying to score. Last night was so horrible, I just kept taking seroquel and seroquel (like my doctor said I should, because he didn't want to give me benzos) and I was still awake at 8:30am, even though I could not keep my eyes open. I couldn't even get out of bed to watch a movie or use my computer, as I could not sit still for even one second. I had to be walking constantly around my room. Insanity.

I'm going to get some magnesium and epsom salts and maybe antihistamines today.

im not sure if codeine syrup is available OTC.
You could try nurofen plus (12.8mg of codeine per tab) 4 hourly
or Panadiene plus (15mg of codeine per tab) 4 hourly
or perhaps mersyndol - paracetamol, codeine and an antihisamine as a sedative (its OTC in NZ, not sure about Oz)
 
Loperamide and DXM would be more useful than antihistamines. Loperamide saved more than just my ass more times than I can count - I used about 25mg per day coming off 150mg oral morphine/day the last time and it killed a substantial amount of the withdrawal symptoms ( ~80% ) and then DXM, naproxen, magnesium and doxylamine at night took care of most of the rest but I would NOT take the antihistamine without the loperamide.

Since your original question was specific to your region, its not appropriate here. I think this has been answered and you'd be better off trying the OD directory for more threads on withdrawal. If you'd like this tried in AusDD or have any questions feel free to PM me.
