Codeine/Promethazine syrup lost potency rate??

ok...i was given this codeine/prometh syrup...problem is that it says "potency expires" 2/01...which is obviously awhiles back...
now i know pills don't expire...but what about syrup potency...by the way...there were no mg/ml dosage info about the meds inside the syrup..just take two teaspoons before bed..any info???
I drank maybe 5 teaspoons and i didn't feel much of anything...maybe a placebo effect...so is the potency really shot??

The only type made is 6.25 mg/5 ml and so since codeine is a weak ass opiate you will probably need to drink about 50ml to feel an effect, but be warned that promethazine is a potentiator of opiates AND a CNS depressant on its own so dont drink too much... I really dont think codeine breaks down into anything so go ahead and drink more, its fun!

i know what codeine is like...
anyway...how many ML are in a teaspoon, and do you know of anythign about the prometh breaking down?

There are about 5 ml in a tablespoon. But on the side of the bottle there should be makings for the ml. Start off with 20 ml - wait about 30mins - then take another 20ml....that should be enough to get you going!

I had a 4 year old bottle of tussionex...i know i know i'm desperate, but i figured might as well try. I drank 30 mL of the tussionex, which should have been 20 g of hydrocodone. However, I just experienced a nice buzz, whereas I would usually be fairly floored, as my opiate tolerance is extremely floored. I don't know much about codeine's similarity to hydrocodone, but I would think that the potency would not decrease substantially in a year. But codeine does not come close to hydrocodone's strength, so you're going to have drink alot more than you would of tussionex.
