Found a list of all active and inactive ingredients here. It doesn't specify the proportions, or what flavoring is used, exactly. Basically I'm trying to determine if it's possible to home-brew the syrup with a custom formulation while keeping the consistency, texture, and the good stuff like preservatives, flavor, and coloring. It makes a tasty beverage that could be well enjoyed without the opiating effect.

Well you could just add food colouring to it if you really want the purple colour. Grind up promethazine tabs and dissolve them in the sprite before you add the codeine linctus (I'm assuming that's what you have.

If you're looking for a syrupy drink without codeine, try ribena, blueberry juice and grape all mixed into one (concentrated - so it's thick and syrupy) and mix with a sprite and enjoy!

Personally I find grape syrup (or grenadine) the most similar tasting mixed with a sprite.

I hope you are not asking about this in order to create fake syrup that you can sell? :sus:

I have no idea why you think the preservatives, flavor, and coloring are "the good stuff". And if you are doing it just for the purpose of your own enjoyment why would you need the coloring? Also the ingredients in the syrup are really not good for you. Anyway, it's likely impossible to find out exactly what they use to flavor it or the quantities of the inactive ingredients, as they would consider that proprietary info (not wanting people to copy them). It's probably some weird industrial artificial flavor that would not be easily obtainable anyway. All you can really do is experiment with juices and syrups like synthetix suggested.

Personally I find grape syrup (or grenadine) the most similar tasting mixed with a sprite.

Grenadine is pomegranate syrup, grenade is french for pomegranate. Although nowadays most grenadine is made from black current, or, even more commonly, artificial flavors.

Do they have this stuff where you live?! I'm pretty sure it's designed to taste like different cough syrup preparations that rappers drink! It actually relaxes me too....the one called purp, I'm pretty sure they were going for the same thing you are....

<no link to a commercial site, thank you>

<snip>

Not sure if we allow links like that or not... they aren't selling anything illegal or quasi-legal (well aside from the melatonin in some countries) or drug paraphernalia so I'll leave it unless another mod objects.. :?

Anyway, I am kinda shocked at the marketing on that, but it's also hilarious. They actually call it "Lean". It's a soda, flavored to taste like "Lean" - promethazine/codeine syrup + Sprite + Jolly Ranchers - but with OTC and herbal ingredients instead of the promethazine/codeine. It contains melatonin, valerian, niacinamide, rose hips, and acai berry.

LOL^ yeah, they sell it up the street for 2 bucks a can at the gas station, its like a reverse energy drink....I really wouldn't say it qualifies as a "legal high"....It does have a mild calming effect though! Its really sugary

Yeah, it's pretty funny though, "developed by an actual pharmacist!"

There was soda called "Drank" making rounds, tastes nothing like the real thing. I don't think we have Ribena in U.S. although maybe someone on Amazon sells them to expats. And no, I don't plan to sell bootleg sizzurp or drank or whatever the fuck its called on the streets. Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to monetize on the "dry" syrup given that nothing commercially available comes even close to the real taste.
