Opioids Codeine Phosphate & Methadone

Hi I was with a friend today and tried codeine for the 1st time, I took 240mgs of Codeine and then later in the day i felt good, after a few hours, My friend he had Methadone 10mg tablets.

He wouldn't give me any until he saw my reaction to the codeine . .. ? why

then after that we were hanging out and he said ok I give you 1/2 10mg Tablet of Methadone

and I had a 50mgs Codeine Phosphate tablet and 5mg Methadone

we crushed both the 50mg and 5mg Codeine and Methadone in a Gel Capsule and I took it about an hour ago

Methadone is many times stronger than codeine, which is why your friend wanted to wait. I'm guessing your are opiate naive, as codeine is one of the weakest opiates available. IMO, adding the Methadone was kind of wreckless but at least your friend started you with a low dosage.

Codeine is 30x weaker than morphine, and acute administration of methadone is roughly 2x the strength of IV morphine though different charts show different equivelence rates. There are also things like half life and duration that come in to play, making it hard to really say what a safe equivalent dose of Methadone would be.

After that he was disappointed with the outcome

I have to take 17.75 to 20mgs per 24 hours
And I took 25mgs today I was feeling. Good
And yes I was worried what the methadone could effect him

The 1 st time I used 5mgs I was a hydrocodone / oxy addict
6 years ago but now kick H and on MMT I thought would be a nice gesture

I gave him 240 codeine to start And then that 50/5mg mdone

But I think the /200mgz of seroquel he takes and his high tolerance to
To benzodiazepines he thought he would feel knocked out

I told him look for your 1st time some people metabolize slowly and others fast like me

I think for now on he can sort it out with the codeine because
I can't afford to give him more than 5 my right now

Codeine and methadone aren't actually good to take together. Methadone inhibits the liver enzyme which metabolizes codeine into morphine. So if you take methadone and codeine at all close together, especially if you take the methadone before or at the same time as the codeine, you will get less of the desirable effects of the codeine but still get the side effects and dangers (sometimes even more of the side effects).

Is the codeine you can get over the counter pure codeine or is it mixed with APAP (aka paracetamol or acetaminophen)? If it is mixed with APAP you don't want to take very much or you want to extract the codeine from the APAP (you can use a cold water extraction to do this).

Was Adrian expecting too much from the methadone? Methadone has a very subtle buzz. It's good you -sl1p609 - didn't give him very much, it's easy for people to overdose when they don't have a tolerance. And it can take a long time to take effect, so people often take more thinking it isn't working. Methadone is really something you DO NOT want to get physically dependent on. As I'm sure you know, the withdrawals are terrible and last for SO long. Do you want your friend to end up in that situation? If he wants to do opioids, have him stick to weaker shorter-acting ones like the codeine.
