Codeine Phosphate For Pain

I am prescribed Norcos for pain but wondered if I could take 60mg codeine phosphate pills for break through pain. Does the codeine work together with the hydrocodone like oxy does.

Also, I dont wanna raise my tolerance up too much, like taking 3 or 4 Norcos a day for pain so I figured I would switch on & off between both meds or just use it for break through pain. Ive used codeine before & liked it so there isnt a problem of whether my body will agree with it. Plus I mix in Somas once in a while also.

I know codeine is supposedly weak to alot of people on bluelight but ive always enjoyed it. 50mgs last summer had me high & took away my pain for an hour & a half, didnt last long but its probably because I didnt take much.

Codeine and hydrocodone (or any other full agonist opioids) will have a cumulative effect when combined.

Medication for breakthrough pain is generally short acting medication taken during periods when long acting medication is insufficient... doctors will generally find the minimum dose that keeps the pain at bay for someone *most* of the time and prescribe this amount in the form of an extended release drug such as OxyContin, MS Contin, Duragesic patches, etc. and prescribe short acting medication such as IR oxy, norco, etc. when pain breaks through the round the clock medication.

If you're prescribed only short acting medication, either you need more of it or you don't - there isn't extra medication prescribed for BT pain unless you're taking long acting drugs around the clock.

Switching between drugs that work almost identically will do next to nothing to reduce tolerance/slow its acquisition. Codeine and hydrocodone are very cross-tolerant.

So they are cross tolerant. Meaning I gotta take alot of codeine to feel what im feeling with hydrocodone. Either way, I think I will mix a few codeine pills with Soma & see what they do. Thanks Cane.

^ here is an excellent chart that kokaino compiled that is stickied at the top of this forum that should be useful in determining your doses.

I wish I could get that 4mg Levorphanol mentioned on that list, LoL! Anyway, its 200mg codeine for 30mg hydrocodone.........thanks for the link to that list, its very helpful!

Thanks Kokaino for the cool list!
