I thought it was more than 300mg in one dose? I've regularly taken half a gram at a time. Done more than a gram a day several times. Not big or clever. Wouldn't recommend it. Tends to make me a bit nauseous too. But I do have a fair tolerance so maybe why I get away with it.
Medical literature I've read says 400mg a day.
I took 400mg a day for 10-11 years & never once had a seizure. I think the seizure risk is slightly over-blown, but should definitely be considered.
When I was in my super early 20's (like 21 or 22) and didn't know much about tramadol or opioids in general, I once took 20 50mg pills of tramadol in a day.
Didn't have a seizure, but I felt AWFUL the whole day. Puked into the toilet most of that day.
But I'll reiterate, that just cause I was fine from doing that, doesn't mean some one else would be. I think if you're already prone to seizure disorders, than you should stay away from tramadol.
Tramadol high feels “dirty” as an opioid because it has serotonergic effects alongside the opioid activity
True, but enjoying it is still subjective I think.
In my experience/opinion, the other effects tramadol has are pretty weak in comparison to it's opioid activity, but they made the experience more interesting & enjoyable for me. I had more feelings of "empathy", wanting to connect with people, less depression, etc.. when I was on tramadol. I enjoyed the stimulating effect too.
Of course once you're tolerant to more potent opioids, tramadol loses a lot of it's magic. But I thoroughly enjoyed the memories I made on tramadol from the ages of 19-30. More enjoyable than buprenorphine, that's for sure. At least for me.
But everyone experiences things differently depending on their body chemistry. I can see why people would think tramadol is "dirty" or don't enjoy it, but I was just one of those oddballs that it seemed to work like magic for.
I've tried tapentadol, which often gets compared to tramadol & I have no idea why because their pharmacological profile is vastly different...But I hated it. The norepinephrine reuptake properties & possibly some strong kappa agonism made tapentadol feel more like a bad dream or something. But there are people who prefer tapentadol to tramadol, so it really varies for everyone.
I had some codeine last summer after not having any for a long time. And it was alright. It definitely has a nice warmth to it, but it didn't give me as much of that "get up & get shit done & move around" feeling that I enjoy with opioids.
I use to itch like crazy from tramadol too. My nose would itch, so I'd rub my nose red. And my body would itch to the point where I'd have claw-mark scratches all over my body. I loved it. And it lasted a good portion of the day. Not being able to re-dose in a single day did suck some times, but I just dealt with it & waited until the next day as long as I could. Never had any seizures for those 10 years that I'm aware of. Felt like I might whenever I tried to push it past 400mg, so that's why I settled at 400mg a day & wouldn't redose.
Also, stacking your tramadol dose helps bring more opioid effects, because having tramadol already in your system can help the next pill you take metabolize into O-DSMT better. So I usually took that 400mg spread over an hour or two.
