I know theres been a lot of discussion on the legality of this but today on the off chance i walked into a chemist and asked for codeine linctus (care gees) the stuff I used to order online. Thats 600mg per bottle and nothing really harmful, had a bottle of it before, and also a new discovery is care opium tincture! I downed a bottle of this and it didn't do much, possible placebo, so I forced myself to throw it up.

But the sugar free codeine tastes alright, and doesn't have squill or any other crap in it. They will ask questions though, and try to dissuade you from purchasing. Just say your doc recommended you as its cheaper than a script and you don't need it long term. This was an independent pharmacy. One thing I noticed is that they sort of turn the labels of the bottles away so you can't see them, but there isn't much they can do, its available POM! Big chemists won't stock it, only indie ones.

God the uk is great!
Opium,
Morphine,
Codeine,
Promethazine

All over the counter :) :)

Jeez,
Just wanted to point out it was readily available without going online.
Don't drink the whole bottle. There is some harm reduction.

It's not exactly readily available anyway; very few pharmacies actually stock it anymore-those that do are small, independent stores that are mostly being replaced by the large chain pharmacies-and those that do usually have limited stock. Also, expect to be borderline-interrogated by a chemist if you're after this; they know its pretty much pure codeine, and therefore a drug of abuse.

That's really neat but all a thread like this will do is encourage opioid addicts to try to buy OTC codeine by hassling every small pharmacy nearby.

Codeine linctus is old news in the UK-I honestly can't believe a lot of people didn't know about it; I guess it's a younger generation of opiate seekers who thought the only otc opiates come in a form you have to extract with coffee filters...anyway, pharmacists are all too used to people trying to score drugs now anyway. Lets face it: drug users will try and obtain drugs. simple fact of life. Using the linctus is arguably safer and certainly more cost-efficient than trying to squeeze the codeine from paracetamol containing pills. I hardly see discussing the linctus goes against the spirit of harm reduction, when talking about CWE is a commonly discussed topic on the forum.
