I'm convinced that products containing codeine phosphate, paracetamol and povidone are shit for CWE's. I've used twice the quantity of codeine that I use with ibuprofen containing pills and feel little or nothing. I suspect that povidone bullshit has something to do with this. I think an ethanol wash can take care of the povidone and paracetamol in products like this. Heres some solubility info

Paracetamol - in boiling water 1g/20mL; in ethanol 1g/10mL
Codeine phosphate - in water 4g/20mL; in ethanol 30mg/10mL
also for Canadians who can't get anything without caffeine:
Caffeine in water 1g/46mL; in ethanol 1g/66mL

I can't find specific info on povidone solubility but all the MSDS say its readily soluble in ethanol. Anyone here tried doing an ethanol wash on codeine phosphate containing pills?

What is the solubility for providone in water/ethanol?

Also how will this help anyway if codeine has the same solubility in ethanol as paracetamol? I thought the point was to get rid of it?

I can't see your thinking process unless you mean this will get out the providone since it doesn't get out well in a CWE. But you haven't posted its solubilty. If i am wrong, than no, i don't see how ethanol can possibly work. However as far as i know CWE is revered among codeine/perc/hydro/etc users. If something else worked better, it probably would have been posted about by now.

Sorry typo. Codeine solubility is 30mg/10mL ethanol. Thats pretty low in comparison to the rest of them. I can't find the exact solubility of povidone. Povidone is a weird excipient. It fucks with the solubility of everything in the solution because its highly soluble in water but forms "films" according to all the information I could find on it. I don't really know much about this unholy povidone bullshit but I don't like it. We need to send it back to the depths of hell where it belongs.

However as far as i know CWE is revered among codeine/perc/hydro/etc users. If something else worked better, it probably would have been posted about by now.

CWE's are easy to perform because water is the easiest solvent to obtain. Not every opioid user has in depth chemistry knowledge and often rely on what other people on the internet have written about extraction methods. I study chem in uni and have a fair bit of experience with extractions, washes and recrystallisations so I'm fairly confident that this ethanol wash will remove large quantities of povidone and APAP while losing minimal amounts of codeine. I need to find the solubility curves of all these compounds to be sure. I'm gonna download the Merck index cuz I'm sick of scouring the internet searching for this shit.
