Last night me and my cousin were sipping codeine and it was his first time in a year and he dosed 150mg (reccommended by me) i figured that would be a great dose for someone woth no tolerance.. I dosed 300 mg like i Usually do but something strange happened with my cousin, he had eaten shrimp and fish (a lot he claims) and after about an hour of injesting the majority of his dose he puked. Seafood in excess tends to make me feel a bit ill and he thinks the codeine on top the food triggered him to puke. I would like to know what you guys think. Maybe he had a bit of food poisoning or something? We also took anti-histamines before we started sipping.

Well opiates and too much sea food isn't something I'd do or suggest tbh, and either one can make you sick, and yeah food poisoning is also possible.. So I'd say if he's sick all night it's probably food poisoning. And maybe he's one of the ones out there like me who should take opiates on an empty stomach due to nausea..

But seems like you know it could be any number of things. And tbh no one will know for a fact which one did it. Could also be a combination.

I had a similar experience (no puking and all) but being too high on Codeine. Had a really bad headache (before taking it). Normally when I have my DOC (hyros 10/325) I take 22.5 mg and that's pretty good for me, and later I may or may not redose later. When I feel really bad I take 30 mg. So, I looked up the conversion chart. 200mg codeine is about equivalent to 30mg hydrocodone. So I took it (and some Dramamine for the itchies that inevitably come with this particular opiate)

Now, when I take 30mg of hydrocodone I feel fantastic, and my pain is gone, but I no longer get the pin point pupils, or the "everything is brighter and there's blind spots" feeling. There's none of that odd feeling of discomfort where it's almost like you think you'll stop breathing.

Well, I got that with the codeine. It hit me HARD. WAAAAY harder than the equivalent dose, it hit me close to like an oxy 60 (keep in my mind "just right" (as in, not in tremendous pain) tolerance is 22.5 with hydro or about 18 with oxy, since it's a tad bit more potent, so while 60mg and higher is common here, I do not have that tolerance, thankfully, even though I've used opiates for 6 years).

Having done some research about this topic it seems that some people have the ability to metabolize codeine into morphine really well, which probably explains why it was so strong.

Opiates/oids just affect certain people in this way. My sister can't take 5mgs of oxycodone without retching. It's also a common sign that the dose was just too high.

Well, you said you were "sippin" codeine. So I'm assuming you either received Codeine with Promethazine syrup or Cheratussin which is Codeine with Guaifenesin. The added ingredient - which is used to deter people from abusing these types of drugs typically makes one throw up when taken in high doses. This is "supposed" to be a good deterrent but obviously it's not haha. I think it was either the promethazine or guaifenesin that made him throw up because 150mg of codeine is hardly shit. lol. this is assuming i'm right and you were drinkin some form of codeine syrup
