hey, i have been abusing codeine for about a year and a half now, for the first year i didnt CWE (don't ask me why, it was indeed a terrible idea not to, but the pills were 30/500's not 8/500's etc.) and have been experiencing bizarre pains in my upper left quadrant, behind the bottom of my ribcage, this pain started in late december and so i went to my doctor in january in fear of my liver, i had mono causing an enlarged spleen which was causing the pain i also had liver function tests that returned normal and ultrasounds of my organs that returned normal aswell, i got prescribed codeine for the pain :D however this pain is returning and only when i consumer codeine OR alcohol if i dont take either for a day it disapears but returns the second i use again, now obviously theese are warning signs so i am not going to take either for a while and have started taking milk thistle extract just to be safe, the pain is a dull ache that hurts particularly when i breath in deeply or move awkwardly, but most strangley the pain is on my ribcage itself, if i touch the bones above where it hurts the bones (or what seems like them) hurt themselves? this pain lasts about 2 days and then goes overnight. this pain is identical to the pain i got during mono, but can't be anything to do with it. what are you're views on my self inflicted situation?

Pain in the side after consuming alcohol could be a sign of liver issues, are you CWEing your codeine preparations now? Mixing large amounts of APAP and alcohol is chemical suicide for the liver, I recommend you stop consuming alcohol or at least cut back if you're getting pain in your side whenever you drink.

I can't tell you for sure, I'm not a doctor, but if this has been happening for some time and reminds you of a pain you had when you had mono...I would speak to your doctor or another medical professional sooner rather than later. Sounds to me like you need to get some liver tests done again before you do anything else.

i've cut down my alcohol consumption from weekend binges every week (last year) to drinking rarely (about 7-10 times in total this year) and yes ive started cwe'ing now especially that my tolerance has gone up, i should have made it clear that although i have been abusing for a while now i have a natrual unatrually low tolerance to opaites lol (lucky me) and would get wasted off 60mg's - 75mg's and ive only ever taken 1000 - 1250 mg's of acetaminophen in one dose and never exceeded more than 2000mg's in a day, i do this for 1 to 2 weeks every month and then have 2 weeks sober(ish). ill book a dr's appointment tomorrow. i was just wondering has anyone else ever experience pain like this from codeine/apap or even alcohol before?

I've experienced side pain (I'm 99% sure it was my liver) after drinking massive amounts of vodka (an entire 750mL bottle of Stolichnaya 100 proof vodka to be exact) with some shots of whiskey added in there just to make sure I got sick, that was a horrible experience, I was sick/hungover for 48 hours afterwords and nearly had my roommate take me to the Emergency Room because I was vomiting blood, I'm sure I had some liver damage as a result of that whole thing....

Long story short, the only time I've experienced that was after consuming an amount of alcohol that nobody should ever be consuming in one setting, or even a whole night. Other than that, no. My codeine experience is limited, I started my opiate habit with hydrocodone and never really got into codeine. Good to hear that you've been CWEing, however. :)

Good call on making the doctor's appointment. I'm going to leave this thread open to see if anybody else has experienced what you have (esp. with codeine, not only alcohol).

^ wow that is hardcore.
if you dont mind me asking and if i read your answer right, why were you trying to make yourself sick with alcohol?
and thanks :)

You did read it correctly, I was joking about making myself sick on purpose, however. I did it because I was young and stupid...it isn't something I would wish upon my enemies and it certainly isn't fun, not the mention the liver damage I likely inflicted upon myself...:\
