Opioids Codeine Big Problem

Sounds like it could be a panic disorder caused by the amps. Also, caffeine plus amphetamine could be making it worse. There is probably nothing wrong with your heart.

I have never had the palpitation problem with opiates, they usually chill me out. I have had palpitation problems though when not on opiates, so I cant really relate to your situation. This is the first time I have heard this though and is very interesting. I hope others can be more help then me.

Quetiapine (Seroquel) did the EXACT same thing to me, wake me out of peaceful drifting away into sleepiness with sudden SEVERE tachycardia, are you taking something like that by chance?

It would be so bad I thought I was going to have a heart attack and/or stroke out.

I'm going to do a little research but one of your meds (or a combo) must cause tachycardia, it could definitely be the amps + caffeine, I definitely don't think codeine has any role at all, but the caffeine that comes with it probably does. I think it's a side effect from coming down off of the amphetamine.

at the doses you mention i wouldn't think it was codeine or even caffeine, that's less caffeine than a cup of coffee. When i'm trying to come down from stimulants or psychs i need a much higher codeine:caffeine ratio to feel calm or sleepy, so maybe the small amount of codeine isn't enough to get rid of the excess stimulation especially with the added caffeine.

. I also had this exact reaction to first dose of seroquel; calmness, and then instant severe tachycardia...was very scary, and went on for twenty mins it felt like-I almost fainted. I read this can happen. As for the OP, I have not had experience with the combo you are using, but sounds like your body isn't agreeing with it all. Maybe you should chill, and NOT TAKE THOSE THINGS.

caffeine on an amphetamine comedown and you're wondering why you're getting heart palpitations?
you might not have any "problems" on amphetamine, but elevated heart rate is a classic effect of amphetamine.
don't underestimate the combination! that's my opinion, anyway.

it also sounds a little like sleep paralysis. were you half-asleep but unable to move your body? i used to sometimes experience this when i used amphetamine.

My fear is that you're right, and you probably are. The problem with caffeine is it requires an extra CAE prior to CWE...and acetone is highly flamable (4). In other words, it's not as convenient.

The caffeine (complimented by the stim comedown) makes it very difficult to actually fall asleep. The opioids however are making you very relaxed and tired and almost able to fall asleep. What is happening is that you are entering hypnagogia (sleep paralysis as was said) while still conscious. You can read about it in more depth on boards which cover lucid dreaming. Anyways hypnagogia is characterized by an inability to move your muscles, visual flashing light, auditory hallucinations, and electrifying jolts running through your body and brain. In people who aren't experienced with the phenomena it often results in an acute fight or flight panic attack reaction (accompaniedby a rapid heart rate and sense of doom or imminent death) which is what you are describing. A few hours later as the caffeine wears off you can then pass through it without noticing and fall asleep.

I've heard these symptoms described before in people who are just experimenting with T1s (codeine, caffeine, and APAP). This is probably what it is but the added variable of the stim comedown means it isn't something you should completely write off.

Yeah, serequel is also an antihistamine, and while I havnt experienced tachycardia from sequel (since I've rarely used it), I certainly have from diphenhydramine, and it can be pretty frightening as my heart rate would be erratic and fast, yet my breathing slow and depressed.

I've also experienced hypnagogia and that is also very stressful, and I experienced it a lot when I was using heroin. Ime opiates are not really that good as sleep aides. They do work well for coming down from stims but I've always found that they cause their owne special brand of insomnia.
