Codeine and Xanax, good or bad idea?

I just got a couple bottles of cough syrup from the doc and I want to get the best high possible from it. I am planning on mixing a cocktail of 310mg codeine, 37.5mg promethazine, and unfortunately 2500mg guaifenesin. I have already taken 4mg of xanax. I have a moderate/high tolerance to all of these. I am on drops so these are her only options since they are prescribed. Would these dosages be enough to make me feel good? and will the xanax potentate it?

any advice is appreciated

What is your normal codeine dose?

"moderate to high tolerance" isn't very clear, and it could be dangerous to answer your question without knowing your tolerance.

if you have no tolerance it may be dangerous; i've taken benzos and codeine so many times that i don't feel it is dangerous unless you're being reckless but i also have a tolerance of about 400mg to feel anything for codeine and a monster benzo tolerance.

if you have a moderate tolerance to both you're probably just going to feel a bit euphoric and tired; it won't be amazing by any means but not bad either. Codeine is the only opiate i'd mix a benzo with, i get way too damn paranoid mixing hydromorphone with benzos.

I really don't recommend adding benzos to an already good opiate high. It always kills the warm fuzzy opiate feeling, no matter the benzo. I've tried mixing with xanax, klonopin and valium. All resulted in the same "bland" feeling when combined. Yea, sometimes I got more of a nod but the pleasant opiate feeling wasn't there like it was before the benzo. I also almost always become paranoid about my breathing when adding any amount of a benzo.

Add that to the increased risk of respiratory depression and it's just not worth it. Some people like it, I personally don't care for it.

Your tolerance is extremely important though if you're set on mixing them. You don't want to stop breathing.

I wouldn't mix them. Take the codeine first and if you must take the xanax when the codeine's effects are gone or going. If your dosages were MUCH lower "mixing" them might be "ok" although not advisable, but not at those dosages, even if you have a high tolerance. I have taken xanax for about 11 years 2-5 mg per day also these last couple of years i have been Rx.ed codeine/apap 30/500 two tabs when needed (i also have a shit ton of other codeine preparations). So i have a decent tolerance to both but i never take more than 1 mg xanax and 60 mg codeine inside an hour. I have take a lot more in the past and it just made me feel sick and i didn't get any relief from either of them. If you "must" take them together i'd take 0,5 mg xanax then about 60-75 mins later the codeine (no more than 100mg) and only after the codeine is gone i'd take more xanax. Either alone will be enough for you esp. at your dosages. Unless you truly don't care about yourself.
