codeine and sex... they don't mix... can anyone give me more info?

Hi all,

Been using opiates for a couple of months, but never while out partying or on a date - obviously - don't want to be falling asleep walking down the street in the middle of the night. Well... last night I was in some pain, so I took a dose of codeine with me to a girl's house, and used it all after a few drinks. Enough for a mild buzz and to kill the pain. After that I wasn't able to... perform properly... if you know what I mean. Or if for some reason you don't know what I mean, I mean I couldn't summon a hardon, even after some mouth action.

Dunno if this has happened to anyone else here - don't have to confess if you don't want to - but I have a question...

How long do I have to be off opiates for this effect to wear off? Completely off the stuff? A few days? Or just avoid it on the night itself?

I've also heard benzos do the same, but I've been on those for ages and haven't noticed, and I've heard of some really weird orgies on massive doses of benzos where nobody knows what they're doing. Besides I need my diazepam for nerves. Is the effect less for benzos than opates? Should I stick to a low dose to minimise any chance of this effect?

/edit: and BTW - will 50mg Viagra overpower the unwanted effect?

This is common, I would not be worrying about it. Don't dose opiates when you might be getting layed, and you'll be fine :)
 
I'd say sleep will be the biggest help in getting full sensation back...

So I can do hydro or codeine tonight and be good for tomorrow as long as I leave it alone before the act? Or should I abstain for a day and see her on Friday? What about that benzos?

Benzos tend to have a similar effect on sexual performance/experience that alcohol does.

I would think that you'll be good tomorrow if you took whichever opiate it was tonight. :)
 
I've never had a performance issue while on benzos (MANY years experience) but opiates will definitely cause problems for me . It only takes as long as it does for the opiates to stop working before i can "perform' again .
 
Opiates are better than sex, anyway, why worry? But really, a low dose of Viagra before sex isn't a bad idea if you are experiencing trouble with erection while on opiates. Orgasm and ejaculation on opiates could still be a challenge, but that isn't where it's at. IMO opiates are better than sex, so I would keep them seperate, but you don't have too. I have heard of wonderful experiences with the two together. Whatever floats your boat.

Alcohol has never been a problem so I'll stick to my benzos too. Thanks!

Yea that's what I guessed - I've noticed very low blood pressure in hands and feet the morning after strong opiates, as in, I have to get up and shake/stretch them out before they work again...

/edit 2... yea that was bit rude that I suppose, since you're clearly experienced... but better than sex? I've never shot H, but I've done lines of pure oxy and 95% coke, one after the other for hours. Would I rather have sex? Maybe. Probably. Would I rather have a girlfriend(s)? Yea. Definately. And what girl decent puts up with that shit 24/7.

It's an effect that I find wears off as opiates wear off - the other night though they had worn off mostly on me but I still found it harder to get hard and it took me forever to come. I think that it's probably best to leave some extra space, especially with something like codeine that tends to fade away slowly.

Hmmm... it might be something else but I doubt it... was well into it but couldn't get more than a semi. Poor girl. And me having to go back to work stoned and frustrated :/ I'll take a couple of multivitamins and eat soemething healthy. Just had some opiates half an hour ago (ahhhhh...) but abstaining tomorrow and seeing her on Friday. I guess I'll see how it goes. And I'll have like 25mg of Viagra just to make sure. I can always top up on that.
 
Unfortunatley just before the first time I was supposed to go all the way with one of my friends girls I took a large dose of pure codeine and a few co-codamol and worried for months over why I couldn't get hard. Trust me mate me and my girl are together every single day and I don't have no problems when not on opiates or regularily using opiates. It all comes back but if you need that extra boost, viagra would do the trick just like everyone else said.

You don't need to wait a full day. Even with a slow metabolism, 8-12 hours is fine. Remember, opiates will only inhibit your ability to sustain an erection while they're active. As soon as they wear off, it's fine. Morphine orally has a half life of 4-6 hours, I believe, so waiting almost 2 days is unnecessary, though I suppose taking a day or 2 off of highly addictive drugs is never a bad thing!

And I agree with the above posters. Opiates are far better than sex, and the partners I've had don't even compare to the companion I've found in opies :)

I can get hard but I can last forever, I cant bust a nut for hours though, the women love it but sometimes I have to give up and try again in the morning. So it's not just you, i cant get off either when on opiates, benzos are no problem though.
