Codeine and Ecstasy

Would it be safe to take codeine during the early stages of an ecstasy come down?
I know codeine has an effect on CYP2D6 and i was wondering if this would create any risks or whatever when taking it so soon after a roll.

Its never safe to combine a stimulant and a depressant.

Regarding CYP2D6, the risk is minimal. In fact, Codeine is bioactivated by CYP2D6. Codeine intoxication is associated with ultrarapid CYP2D6 metabolism. So if CYP2D6 is slighlty inhibited by MDMA it reduces the risk of Codeine intoxication.

It is shown that MDMA does bind to CYP2D6 and that this enzyme has a role to play in MDMA's metabolism. While it is still possible that low CYP2D6 levels could shift risks slightly, this appears to be a minor or potentially irrelevant issue. Several other related enzymes are implicated in MDMA's metabolism and it is more likely that some other enzyme, system, interaction, or behaviour is responsible for most variations in reactions to this chemical.


So, i'm no doctor but if you save it for the come down I don't really see a huge risk here.

If you are going to take Codeine I would highly recommended having some benadryl on hand because the itch will be multiplied by 10 and will be very annoying.

iv done it several times on comedowns from pills , well any come down really

never had any problems , worked out pretty good

i usually wait until im well and truly comin down and scattered though

i have taken codeine while coming up with MDMA and coming down in the same night.....opiates and ecstasy mix quite well (personal experiences of course) opiates make the roll more pleasureable and more relaxed as apposed to dancing the night away.

Opiates are still downers though and they put a lot of strain on the heart. Be careful.

i agree with FlowMotion. if you plan to use opiates and Ecstasy i would advise that you take less of each drug.

Well, my doctor prescribes me Adderall (a stimulant for ADHD) and Hydrocodone (Lortab 10) for degenerative disc disease and has never told me NOT to take them at the same time. My hubby, also a doc, says it okay in small amounts. I've also taken Lortabs on the "downside" of a roll, when I usually get a headache anyway, and always found that it helped quite a bit.
