Codeine and CWE Megathread - The long awaited!

^ Actually I see what you mean there, you need agitation to get it happening. I agitate my solutions pretty well though so I guess I was assuming all the ibuprofen that can go into solution would go into solution.

what do you mean by "gradual temp drop"?

I can't think of any other way to drop the temperature than gradually i.e. in the fridge, freezer or ice bath etc

It does matter how long you dissolve it for. The longer the ibuprofen is contact with the water the more ibuprofen will dissolve in the solution.

I use warmish water, then cool to room temp then fridge it. Thats a gradual temp drop. If u use very cold water to dissolve the pills then place straight into the freezer or fridge it wont be as good as the gradual temp drop. Ive done a lot of research on CWE's and heaps of experiments. The things I have noticed to get better results are:

-Gradual temp drop
-The longer you cool it the better (I do it over night)
-Doing 2-3 washes yields better results
-The finer the filter the better

I found all these things to yield a better extraction. These are based on my own personal experiments but pretty sure your yields will improve by a bit of %.

One thing I would advise against is using a blender. I blended my pills into a fine slush and it would not pass through my filter at all! The tiny particles of paracetamol totally blocked it.

I have ground the powder as finely as possibly with my hands and never had this problem.

I had to give up in the end as it would not even settle out in a tall glass...

^ When I was first doing CWE's I would use Nurofen Plus, got sick of trying to crush them up and used a coffee grinder to turn them into powder, worked fine. Now I only use APAP/codeine brands and only those that dissolve easily.

Who grinds there pills?? Seriously LOL I use only ibuprofen products and it takes 10 seconds to dissolve. Blender is sooo unnecessary and time consuming, if you are using pills that dont dissolve instantly you need to look into other products. Liek I said warm or room temp water helps heaps.

Morning crew! Long time guys ( :( ) but I'm back!

** check this if anyone's noticed or not lol

I do find it funny though that the same debates still crop up - re: ibuprofen v. APAP, crushing v. shaking v. blending etc, use/need of temperature - easily amused I guess :P

^ I've not performed CWE, but in principle Sonny Jim is on to something. For example - you can technically dissolve about 15 teaspoons of sugar in 100ml of water at 25 degrees Celsius. Now go and try it - it will take a while to get all that sugar dissolved I can tell you!!

Good man! Glad this was mentioned! If one wanted to go to the trouble - an hour in a lab, eliminating/controlling variables, at STP, etc. ;)

I think when it comes down to it each person has their own "tried and test" method which works for them ey.

Has anybody else noticed that their leftover product of ibuprofen/paracetamol (obviously) solidifies after a while? Well, I just had a thought that perhaps I could sculpt something out of the leftover ibuprofen I have. It would be amazing, an ibuprofen sculpture.

That sounds like a challenge to me Sus! ;)

(not for me, im outta that. but Nozphexezora off ya go!)

Just wondering how much water (ml) should be used for cwe of a pack of 24 panadeine extra tablets?? ( eaxh tablet contains 15 milograms of codeine)
Thanks

Generally it's a rule that people use 2ml for each pill (8-20mg), so that would amount to approximately 50ml.

No I didnt get it backwards. Like I mentioned in my post weed has worse withdrawals than codeine but thats me personally. Who else here has been addicted to both? Can anyone shed some light on this? Its funny though, I know where ur coming from! Ud think that Codeine>Morphine would have a lot more withdrawals. I had a harder time quitting weed because of the withdrawals. To me codeine is way more addictive though

I find these sorts of questions extremely fascinating (possible topic for my masters I'm thinking! =D). Particularly the bio-variability between people - in the same household (environment), same families (genetics), friends (sociological), age, ethnicity, etc - and more specifically the effects these variables play into addiction (and associated areas such as widthdrawals). Similarly to pharmacogenetics for instance. Or "indivualised pharmacotherapies" if you weill. :)

....Ud think that Codeine>Morphine would have a lot more withdrawals.....

I'm curious, why do you think that? :)

.... I had a harder time quitting weed because of the withdrawals. To me codeine is way more addictive though

Tbh this doesn't surprise me. We all know the hardest part about trying to quit an addiction isn't so much the physical/chemical dependence (most predominant obviously being the usual group of symptoms), but the mental dependence!

Valiums great for codeine withdrawals. I wouldnt attempt a codeine cold-turkey or rapid taper without it. Didnt find alpraz anywhere near as good as diaz for the same purpose...

I'd agree with that .... since they're often not used for the same purpose (although can be! Doctors can, and often do, prescribe drugs as an off-label use). You're when you said about the different half-life's - yet this is just one of many other varying characteristics of different benzo's in the benzo class. I wouldn't (and would never) suggest to someone with a profound benzo addiction to try to quit cold-turky! The side effects can be absolutely, excruciatingly dangerous (fatalities are not all that uncommon).

However, I do love diaze! One of my favorite benzos/drugs! =D

Was comparing codeine which converts to morphine in the body to cannabis. Cannabis for me personally has a lot worse withdrawals than codeine. Its not "why I think that" Its just how it is for me.

Ah, ok. Sorry man!

I get what you were saying now. You were personifying it? Weren't talking generally? :) .... that is peculiar then isn't it? That for you marijuana withdrawals are worse the Codeine's. (the major) Causes of withdrawal from each are different** - physical v. psychological - so I guess you are a prime example to show that any form of withdrawal, whether it be physical or psychological, is dangerous.

Plus unfortunately, the psychological aspects of an addiction is often the worst and hardest to fix.

Well done thought brother, for pulling yaself out of it! :)

** gross over simplification of "withdrawal" I know :)

Thanks man, everyone is different. Drugs do effect people differently. Its always a good idea to weigh up the consequences for everything and think it over.

What are people opinions of DHC (DihydroCodeine) versus regular codeine? Reports on the web suggest its a desirable opioid.

Anyone tried it? If so what sort of dose would you take? I need 600-800mg codeine for a decent session, so would I be looking at the same sort of dose with DHC? .... (not that I actually have any DHC right now but supposing I could get my hands on some).

Responses in this thread seem mixed...

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/543237-Dihydrocodeine-vs-Codeine

And this conversion table indicates its around 1.5x stronger, so a dose of 600mg codeine would be comparable to about 400mg dhc...

Curious to read any experiences.

^ It's a bit more potent. The sorbitol in Rikodeine can cause problems though... I like it, don't like the gastrointestinal effects. I combined it with enough codeine I didn't get diarrhea, but it still made me pretty nauseous.

Whats Rikodeine? A prescription cough syrup?

Im talking about straight up DHC only though. Like 30mg tablets, or 120mg extended release pills (that could obviously be crushed or cwe'd.

^ OTC cough syrup, it's S3 you need to give your details to get it and chat to the pharmacist. Can be hard to get as it's bought pretty much only for abuse these days in my experience.

If you get dihydrocodeine tablets though, no problems cause no sorbitol you lucky motherfucker. ;)

I personally thought it was a little bit more potent then codeine, my tolerance was pretty high at the time though so was mixing when I was really getting into the Rikodeine. A few years back I used it by itself once or twice and didn't notice a huge difference in terms of dose needed, using an equivalent dose of DHC got me higher then the codeine did was all I noticed.
