Codeine and CWE advice

SWIM this afternoon 4 tablets of chemists own, 9mg/500mg (codeine phosphate/paracetamol) pills straight up no extraction. Swim didn't feel much but started light as swim hadnt eaten all day and had only slept three hours. Then approximately 4 hours later swim used cwe method on 8 of the same pills, and yielded an almost clear liquid, bitter and significantly more tingly this time. Swim now wants to cwe the remaining 10 pills, would this be wise given the consumption of the 2g of paracetamol earlier, or is this nothing to worry about as the previous yield seemed almost completely free of paracetamol? The last batch of 8 pills was consumed 5 hours ago according to swim.

You will be fine doing another CWE on the remaining 10 pills, as that will remove the paracetamol from the tablets.

Firstly no swimming in here!! Looks silly and doesn't offer any protection at all.

Secondly - it really depends on your CWE technique. If you did it properly with a good filter (no squeezing!!) and a small amount of cold water then there should be minimal paracetamol in the liquid - however paracetamol is very slightly soluble in water, and it can be hard to get your filtering technique good at the start, so always best to assume that a bit of paracetamol did leak through. I'm a bit worried that your liquid wasn't crystal clear - some brands (especially those with ibuprofen instead of paracetamol, or DHC instead of codeine) don't give a crystal clear filtrate but it might mean a little bit of paracetamol leaked through. Don't panic, am sure it's fine, just something to bear in mind. Usually almost-clear is okay but make sure your technique is good

We were chatting about paracetamol dosing on here yesterday - you shouldn't really have 2g in one go, normal dose is 1g four times a day so 4g in a day but with 4-6 hours in between each 1g dose. You are "allowed" another 2g today but in future make sure you space your doses out

If you do have them, make sure you are using an appropriate filter and are careful not to squeeze it or let any liquid leak around the sides. I appreciate it might seem a bit OTT advising you to wait and I would probably not worry at all myself but then again I get nervous saying things are okay on here, haha

Also, redosing codeine later on the same day doesn't give you anywhere near the same high in my experience. Be much more fun to have it tomorrow but should be safe today if you use a good technique.

My CWEs are never crystal clear, maybe because I buy the cheaper brands, but I don't really fear that much paracetamol(APAP) has gotten through when I see the massive sludge of it stuck in the filter. Are you CWEs always crystal clear then? I know CWE technique has been discussed to death on here, was just wondering though.

They are if I use a coffee filter and am patient.. but not if I rush it or use kitchen roll. Paramol CWEs come out really milky! I dont really worry either but having thought about it a lot more lately I would like to know exactly how much paracetamol does get through. Am positive it's not a significant amount but I have started to worry a lot more lately.. probably as my CWEs tend to involve 32 pills or more, haha..

My advice on BL does tend to be a bit OTT as I am quite a cautious person, I find it really hard giving advice that is almost definitely going to be okay but not 100%, haha. It's silly though cos nothing is risk free in real life, everything involves weighing up the risk/benefit, and a properly done CWE has very little risk

Hi apologies if I am bumping this unnecessarily, but felt as the thread has the most appropriate title I will ask here.

I am experienced in Codeine CWE's but I was wondering if it would be OK to get my Cold Water Extraction to the coffee filter stage (in the fridge) but leave it overnight? I simply want to do this so I that it is ready in the morning when I wake up.

Yes. By "coffee filter stage" do you mean crushed pills sitting in solution? Either way its fine, APAP solubility is not going to increase upon sitting as long as temp is kept sufficiently cold.

No by coffee filter stage I mean when it is sitting in the the filters (I always use 3 slotted in to each other) sorry that was a bit blunt.

Sorry for the intervention, but I too was always wondering when CWEing Paramols (my favs when in the UK:D) the final product always ended up abit milky and not clear..
I have tried many combinations and 3-time filtering, etc. but always ended up milky lol. For codeine I remember Boots brand "Codeine with Aspirin" was the best at the time.
