Oramorph haha.. 20mg promethazine should be okay if 30mgs makes you groggy, you don't want to take too much anyway as you can get delirious which isn't fun. It will help with any nausea as well a itching and it will potentiate the codeine too. Really, if you were light headed from 60mgs and you are potentiating it maybe the full pack would be too much. You can always try a higher dose next time..

A quick update for you Effie.
Well first of all I decided to go with the full 32 in the end. You only live once and all that! So thoughts...
First off crushing 32 pills was a ball ache. I just stuck them in between a sheet of paper like with MD then hammered the shit out of them.
Second it tastes foul! Not as bad as peruvian torch mind, but still pretty nasty.
Finally, well I fell pretty nice! Nice and relaxed. Kinda reminds me of kratom (I had that about 4 or 5 years ago though so memory's a bit hazy). I do want a spliff to go with it, but its nice. I am pretty itchy though, and I certainly can't be assed with the preparation to make it a regular occurance, but I'm glad I've given it a crack.

Codeine usually lasts around 24h for me. Not full-on but definitely noticable for at least that long. Straight phosphate pills anyway. CWE'd Co-Cos are way, way shorter-acting for whatever reason. Lucky to get more than 12h before the sniffles set in with those. Codeine is a strange fish. Suspect I'm just especially susceptible maybe... only I'm not when it comes to "proper" opi's. Odd. Strange fish so it is. Oh yes it is.
Indeed, it's a funny one, codeine. I can still get good effects even when my tolerance is up (although I need to up my codeine dose too) and I can vouch for the 400mg "ceiling" not to apply, for me at least.. it's metabolism is pretty complicated, codeine-6-glucuronide definitely plays a part but the extent to which you can metabolise it into morphine also plays a role too I think. Maybe that explains the varying effects/duration between different people - the extent to which the high comes from C6G or morphine? Hmmm..
Jealous of you getting 24 hours out of it Shammy, the short duration is the major downfall for me. Along with the ridiculous histamine release.

Now there's another codeine oddity - histamine release seems random as fuck to me. Admittedly higher doses tend to be the worst culprit but sometimes I'll cut my dose dramatically and get massive histamine release when I didn't get any at way higher dose 
And on the morphine conversion thang, are you a believer in that playing any real part in the effect, Ms Eff? The amount of morphine produced from even insanely huge doses of codeine are pitiful and would do shit all alone so just can't see what relevance they are really. But know even less about the various other codeine products produced... suspect it must be some kinda combo-potentiation afoot. Or at least one of those lesser-studied codeine metabolites are way more potent than you'd think.

I itch more with Codeine than I do with Oxy, which I find quite odd.
I'm prescribed 30/500 Co-codamol, and used to take them fairly regularly with the odd recreational CWE just for the craic, but I've basically stopped taking it now. Taking paracetamol as often as I was is more harm than it is good. Especially considering 60mg of codeine is no where near strong enough.

I don't know Shammy, for ages I believed it didn't play a role but speaking to a few people and looking in the literature it seems that the evidence for C6G isn't as strong as I first thought. It definitely plays a significant role, I am sure of that, but I would not be surprised if morphine did as well - for those who metabolise it well, anyway.. you're right though, the amounts are pretty small but you have to compare it to IV morphine not oral as oral has such a low bioavailability.. ahh I don't know. I change my mind daily :D

If only I still had the pic of my red-raw, post-"itching" leg I once posted during my high-dose IV codeine phase*. I don't though so just think hamburger in leg-based form 
Codeine is hands-down the itchiest of all opies, I'd say. Morphine being second.

Been taking codeine daily for the last 4 years and I've never noticed any itching! Total daily intake until earlier this week was around 750mg per day. YMMV indeed!

^ Not really - itching only lasts for the first few days of use however high the dose gets. Other than the occasional bout of insane scratching that just seems to drop outta the blue. Pack of cheap (or even not-so-cheap if yer posh, like) antihistamines are definitely a worthwhile storecupboard standby for any codeine cohabitee.
Script is no more for another month sadly. Less sadly it's nearly next month already. Woot! Am getting pretty good at this moderation biznizz. Moderately good anyway. Tried to keep to a max of 300mg/day this month and it seemed to work. Although I don't believe a word of the "ceiling dose" stuff I must admit the law of diminishing returns is pretty strong with codeine. However high you dose it never quite makes the grade as an actual opiate really. Not longterm anyway. Unfortunately my doc didn't even bother to say "no" when I hinted that perhaps a minor bump to even lowly DHC would be in order so am not holding my breath for the planned jump to morphine (or ideally bupe). Ho-hum. And roll on April.

wow, me too. I wondered why as well (particularly given all the talk of codeine converting to 10%morphine in your body), opis really are odd....I prefer codeine or dhc to morphine...180dhc, or 240codeine is nice for me, about half a bottle of Oramorph (50ml = 100mg) gives me the same sort of effects, and as I've often said, oxy's really didn't do a lot for me at all.

I hate tramadol too, took 400mg two times and it just made me snap at people and woke up in the middle of the night panicking that I was going to die (probably serotonin syndrome), not sure but I never took any again.
But, love codeine and get itchy only if I take too much.

Not SS I can assure you. SS is a tad bit more... noticable than thinking you're gonna die I can assure you. In fact thinking isn't entirely feasible for several hours. Aside from a few moments here and there when the delerium fades just enough for the unbelievable agony and fitting to become more real than the bizarro world of insanity you'd just gotten used to which tends to make death a very nice idea as an alternative indeed
400mg of tram is way too much for recreational dosing - only need that much if used daily really. 100-150mg is more the recreational zone without tolerance (if you're in the recreational camp anyway). Tram is one of those "less is more" kinda thangs.

Totally agree. Used to love it, but now it's just four hours of feeling okay but a little disappointed. Though I hammered it when I was younger (used to steal / be given 30/500 cocos) and then moved on to DHC when I got access.

Under the name Ultram, its actually market as an anti-depressant. Not that anti-depressants ever work.
People actually get recreational value from tramadol? 150-200mgs I hear some say - usually followed by the phrase "more is better with tramadol". Might give that a bash presently.
