Cocaine Laced With Veterinary Drug Levamisole Eats Away at Flesh

Cocaine cut with the veterinary drug levamisole could be the culprit in a flurry of flesh-eating disease in New York and Los Angeles.

The drug, used to deworm cattle, pigs and sheep, can rot the skin off noses, ears and cheeks. And over 80 percent of the country's coke supply contains it.

"It's probably quite a big problem, and we just don't know yet how big a problem it really is," said Dr. Noah Craft, a dermatologist with Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute.

In a case study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Craft describes six cocaine users recently plagued by the dark purple patches of dying flesh. And while they happened to hail from the country's coastlines, the problem is national.

I wonder if that's because the governments hands are all over 82% of the cocaine supply.. Just guessing. It's a number that has gone up with the escalations in the war on drugs. I think it was 60% in '05 and has gradually risen. 70% in '09. now 82. But they must be winning 8)

Agreed. I haven't used coke in a decade and even then it was just a small amount. I found coke to be fun and enjoyable but not worth the $$$, the crash sucked, and at the time when I was into stimulants I could have just popped some Dexedrine and had more fun and it would have lasted longer too.

IME the stuff cut most with levimisole causes heavy nosebleeds at first, then it causes a funky sense of smell with a weakened immune system. Had it a few times 8(

Not sure what dose it becomes a problem, but I'd say if the coke is fairly cut, it starts becoming a problem in just a few lines IME.

I knew a guy who was snorting a gram a day of coke... He died a few months ago. Leukemia, I'm guessing swiftly helped along by levamisole coke (since it damages bone marrow, where leukemia targets).

Umm.....if they wanted to increase their profits, there are other things you could mix the coke with w/o endangering our lives. Why does it seem far fetched that the government wants to kill drug addicts? One less drug addict/drug user in the world is no biggie to them, a drug addict is easily replaceable.

Its been proven time & time again how the government has f**ked with its citizens threw unknowingly testing them & what not.

why in the world would any dealer cut their product with something that rots peoples faces. That is not an explanation at all. There are safer ways to cut it with like B12 for example.
