Cocaine amateur

Hey, I've done coke a few times and have no problems with it. However, my urge to learn about the chemicals I'm abusing my body with makes me ask this question:

So freebase is cocaine molecules mixed with acid to take out the hydrochloride, changing it from a salt state to another purer state yes?

I also assume this gets rid of impurities and cuts from the cocaine, thus you end up with 'freebase'.

Freebase is therefore 'pure cocaine' yes? So why doesn't everybody do this, as everybody wants purer coke?

What are the problems with doing this?

Freebase is base cocaine, no acid added, regualar cocaine is cocaine Hcl aka the hydrochloric acid slat of cocaine, coke is acidic somewhat.. Freebase is either where someone adds a base to regualr coke , like baking soda and heats it up in water to form crack, which adds the baking soda to the cuts already in the coke ,but makes it in a base form which means it is smokable and not water soluble..so you cannot snort base cocaine or inject it without adding some weak acid like that to the water to make it acidic enough to turn the crack aka cut base cocaine into a soluble injection form. Real Freebase cocaine is mad eby taking the regualar cocaine Hcl which is acidic and using ether as a solvent to seperate the cocaine from the cut and filtered and then a base of ammonia is added slowly till base cocaine quits froming, you can see it form when the ether/cocaine solution minus the cuts is put into a glass container and ammonia is added drop by drop and white material=base cocaine is forming ..the end base cocaine can be up to 98%+ pure , but this is a dangerous procedure to try if not familiar with the chemicals and chemistry in some way!!

Cocaine is an alkaloid which means it is alkaline and would make up the basic part of a salt. If you have a cocaine salt solution you need to add a stronger base to get the cocaine to precipitate out in freebase form (which happens to be insoluble).
-Cocaine base (insoluble) you smoke.
-Cocaine salt (soluble) you snort.

Also remember cocaine is an acidic salt of hydrochloric acid,so to make it into a base you add an alkaline substance such as baking soda to make crack, or use ammonia which is also a base aka alkaline substance!

Ccoaine Hcl is an acidic compound, most alkaloids like cocaine and heroin, etc. have to be made into an acid salt to be water soluble ..the alkaloids in cocaine are what are extracted from the coca leaves and is made acidic for snorting and water soluble by bubbling Hydrochloric acid through a solution of coca base in solvents,etc..
Read about ccoaine and alkaloids online, it's easy to understand really, vault of erowid is a good one or go to wikipedia and look up cocaine, alkaloids, etc.. and study a little, it will not take you long and you will better understand drugs and acid/solvent extraction of alkaloids!!

Purifying cocaine can be done with ether. To make REAL freebase cocaine, go to THIS thread. Using the simple baking soda method is ghetto crack and includes basified impurities.

this might help...

wash 2 gr. of HCL coke in 100 ml of anhydrous acetone and let airdry under heat
when it's complete dry, freebase using 10% carbonate, filter and dry under heat lamp for a while, and wash the base in 100 ml. of warm alkaline water, filter
dry and dissolve in 80 ml of Hexane/petroleum ether/kerosene
filter out any undissolved impurity
add 50 ml of a 5% HCL acid solution (5 ml. of 38% HCL + 35 ml. of water) to the Hexane and mix the solvents for a while.

using a syringe recover the coke layer that's on the bottom which is now clear transparent
this could be evaporated and washed in acetone
or freebase, dry and turn it back into salt
Coca byproducts that weren't oxidized or washed off when making base cocaine will make the high edgy and speedy. Check this new method of removing coca impurities without oxidation:
