Hi there guys!

Just wondering, why is there not a mega thread for coca leaves and teas? Pretty much everyone who has tried it, loved it, so it must be reasonably popular? Especially it can be imported so easily from Peru to the US.

By the way I got a question here. I've been chewing coca leaves (a full teaspoon of powder mixed with baking soda, roughly 10 to 1) for a while now, usually on the way to work early in the morning. I found it a huge energy boost that lasts most of the day, much more than a strong cup of espresso, but without the jittery effects. Particularly useful for those 9am meetings. The mouth numbing sensation is actually very enjoyable too. I have sort of stopped drinking coffee since I started using coca leaves.

However, I work very long hours with very little sleep, so I sometimes take it a few times a day. My question, is there anyway I can increase the concentration of the alkaloid? Like condensing 100g of leaf powder into 50g so it gives twice the effect with a teaspoon. Please note that I'm not talking about cocaine extraction...

Another thing, I found that coca leaves improve my digestion significantly, but I found nothing about it on the internet. Am I the only one? Not a big deal obviously, just curious.

Can't help you much with your questions, but I'm a bit of a fan of coca leaves. Especially making coca-booze, although it tastes pretty nasty.

I've been really interested in trying coca leaves ever since I read a book about this guy who drilled out ice cores from mountaintop glaciers and he spoke about these sherpa type local guides in the Peruvian Andes who chewed on them and would climb up and down the mountain to bring his equipment to the campsites. If chewing on them could give the energy to do that without making you feel awful, I'd think it'd be pretty neat to try.

I don't believe it's legal to have these in U.S. though and I don't think anybody would find it worth the risk to sneak them in here either since I imagine not all that much money is to be made with that. I do know that Coca-Cola still uses them as a flavoring ingredient, but with the cocaine alkaloids removed somewhere along the line.

Do you know of any 1st world countries/developed countries that allow the leaves to be sold or the plants to be grown legally? It'd be interesting to try it if I was ever in a foreign country that allowed it, however unlikely that is.

Not entirely legal but as far as I know nobody has ever been prosecuted. Even one of the biggest (if not the biggest, but I can't name) online multi-store sells it in teabag form, and yes they still do.

But in my opinion making a tea is a bit of a waste, so if I were to get some teabags I'd just take the content out and chew.

As for growing, I am not sure if that is possible at all outside of S. America / Oceania because of the climate?

I didn't think anyone could sell them, no matter what the form. From my limited research and knowledge, I could have sworn there was only one company with a license to import it and I thought they did so solely for flavoring in Coca-Cola. Also they were required to remove the alkaloids from the leaves so no active ingredient remained once the flavoring was added to the cola mixture. Of course, I could be completely wrong and it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

You're correct.

But the leaves / tea bags are still sold openly. Even on mainstream (ie, non-drug) shopping websites.
