So, I know cocaine is one of the most cardiotoxic stimulants to to its effect on sodium channels and its local anasthetic properties, but I don't know about the cardiotoxicity of coca leaf, when chewed or drank. Does this relatively small, gradual release of cocaine reduce all of the harmful effects? Also, are there other alkaloids in coca that mediate those effects? just can't find that much in pubmed honestly

Continued exposure to cocaine isn't healthy for the heart, doesn't really matter where it's coming from. Limiting the dose and frequency of use helps, and to be sure you'd need to chew a fuckload of coca leaf before you reached "heavy" consumption levels. The dose makes the poison, but if you're getting euphoric/stimulant effects from chewing the leaves, I bet you're getting at least 10mg of cocaine absorbed. It's just gradual and not all at once.

Most of the other tropane esters found in cocaine usually in trace amounts (cinammoylcocaine, pseudococaine, benzoylecgonine) can be reasonably expected to be cardiotoxic/pro-arrythmic agents by the same mechanism.

that's good info. what i'm asking is basically, if cardiotoxicity is even a concern when ingesting around 10 mg cocaine gradually, since that's smaller than any bump or line i've heard of

and so, how would this mild gradual cocaine stimulation compare to caffeine, nicotine or amphetamine as far as cardiotoxicity? as far as I know, almost no studies have been done on 10-15 mg cocaine effects, because it's so atypical

definitely a goood direction, does the leaf chewin have cardiotoxic properties on its own?
