WELCOME TO PHOTO CONTEST #417!

This round's theme is NOEL as selected by your reigning champion: @mal3volent.

This round is meant to be open to interpretation. While 'Noel' is often associated with the Christmas holiday season, the rules aren't intended to be stringent, allowing for flexibility and creativity with your shots.

Submissions must be original photographs, with or without minimal pre or post editing.

Submissions are now open! Take some photos, or select an existing original photo of yours, and submit it! It doesn't have to be a photo you take now, it can be something from the past, as long as you've taken it yourself, and you haven't submitted it before.

   [*]Submissions will be taken until February 12TH (subject to change depending on participation level).
   [*]Voting will open until February 24TH (subject to change depending on participation level).
   [*]Photographs or variations of a photograph cannot be recycled from previous rounds.
   [*]Photographs must be your original work.
   [*]Post your photo in the the form of an image, not a link to click on.
   

   1. To insert an image, host the image on a 3rd party site and post it using the picture button or this code [IMG]...[/IMG].
   2. Those who wish to participate in sharing full versions of their entries may do so by providing a link to the full sized version in the same post as their entry.
      1. Free image resizing and hosting website - Imgur, or Imgbb
      2. Images can be easily resized in Bluelight posts by simply dragging them from the corner into the size you want

i'm not sure yet if i'm going to join the christmas festivities at my mom's.
my stepbrother with his daughter (6) are going to be there, and it could be fun because of the kid, and somehow i feel i might be a good buffer between everyone and my stepbrother. but i would have to stay over because there is only little public transport on december 24 (that's when people here celebrate)
i might go on december 25th for the day because i don't think i'm going to join them for new year because i don't want to leave my dogs alone that night.

This poor thread was so well hidden until a few days ago, please leave it open for another week or so.

this is a pic of a spider hanging in my window, not edited with any filters or anything... there was a shop in the mall that closed that used to have awesome developing and borders.. i also did photography in high school, but i lost some of those pictures.. i was into photography for a few years.. a lot of my favorite photos are edited after, or they are pictures of paintings.. this is probably the coolest image i have for this thread... i have some film i was doing on acid a few years back that is more recent stuff i've done. i haven't developed it. i was trying to take pictures of falling leaves on a long exposure so they'd blur in the image.. i have to develop them, but the only place i know is that mail order photo place in california and i don't have a printer to print out their order form.. have to go to the library sometime and get that done...

I wanted to add my picture of a train trip. It is a picture taken on Thanksgiving Day and on the train they served a whole Holiday meal and Dinner.

It is a picture of the start of the Holidays that are leading into the New Year and Noel.


I can't really compete because my camera is on a shelf somewhere. I just want to try for the fun and enjoyment. But I did actually capture this one

and I even love the wooden frame that it's in !!

But anyway ... But the picture does make me remember the feeling entering into the Season of Noel once again.

tricky topic for me, because noel is so closely associated with christmas.
i myself don't celebrate christmas, and where i live houses are surrounded by high walls. no chance to steal some pic of some neighbor's decorations.
i have dogs, so i decided to stay with them on new year's eve instead of going to watch the famous valparaiso fireworks (from my mom's window)

but... i have this amazing san pedro cactus right in front of my house, and where i live, it blooms around the *noel of a new year*

only tweaking was cutting off the boring bottom part and adding 2% of brightness/contrast
