This will be pretty simple so here it goes: I have been attempting to taper off of clonazepam 5-8 mgs/day for over a month unsuccessfully, so my doc switched me to chlorazepate. I havent found much compelling information about it in the last day or so.
Considering my high tolerence, what effects can I expect? On wiki it says it's a prodrug for desmethyldiazepam, but I have no experience with it so I'm not sure what the experience will be like. It seems like there are a lot of mixed reviews, so if anyone can clear it up I would appreciate it.

As a side-note, does clorazepate have any euphoric effects or is it closer to a therapeutic benzo?
Also, is suitable to take it sublinqually? It's a pro drug so maybe metabolism is actually a good thing?

Clorazepate is an old benzodiazepine. What dose are you taking?

30mgs during the day for anxiety, and 60mgs at night for insomnia. Tonight was my first go at it, and it's quite nice for a mood lift and anxiolysis. But so far it's not helping me feel tired, or even sadated.

Yeah, 90mg/day isn't a small dose. But you have quite some tolerance. I find clorazepate very sedating, but that's just me.

If it doesn't help, you should see your doctor for an evaluation, or another benzodiazepine.

What do you mean by "does clorazepate have any euphoric effects or is it closer to a therapeutic benzo?" All benzos have therapeutic effects. As for the euphoric effects, it really depends on your sensitivity. I for one don't find them euphoric at all. YMMV.

Of course all benzos have therapeutic effects, but I was asking if it's more of a non-euphoric compound. I'm not looking to get high, but a mood lift is always nice. Some benzos are a little more euphoric than others, but as I experienced yesterday clorazepate isnt too much to go crazy for. That's fine with me, I was just curious.

Does anyone have experience with mixing clorazepate and clonazepam or lorazepam. I need to stretch my clorazepate, I'm getting a little fiendy with it because it's so good for social anxiety.

It is a weak benzo that will not do much in the way of insomnia. Its a half decent anxiolyic for daytime ingestion but that's really it. I've never mixed those particular 3 (lorazepam, clonazepam and clorazepate), but I'll tell you that clorazepate is not in lorazepams or clonazepams league.

It's a question of dose. Take a 50mg pill (they do exist here) and tell me it hasn't floored you.

^ this. I've gotta take super high doses in order to get a hypnotic effect. It's awesome for anxiety but I need to take at least 90mgs to feel much of anything. My tolerence is super high though.
