Hey so I am thinking of trying to detox from h pretty soon. For me the chills and sweats are some of the worst parts of WD for me, so I think clonidine can help me. My first question is do I just go to a regular doc and he will prescribe me it? Or do I have to go to an addiction specialist or psyciatrist?

Second is I need to know if it will have bad interactions with other meds such as benzos(probaly xanax), neurontin or lyrica, seroquel, ambien?

My plan is to take the clonidine to help with the chills and hot flashes, the xanax throughout the day for anxiety relief, possibly neurontin or lyrica if I am lucky enough to get it prescribed, and seroquel to knock me out at night. With all those I would think it would make w/d a lot more bearable at least I hope so. I mean the worst of it is over after 4-5 days and with all those meds I think I would be pretty sedated all day and hopefully be able to sleep most of it away with a lot of seroquel.

your family doctor should be able to prescribe you the clonidine, and it should not have a bad reaction with the alprazolam.

The clonodine detox was the worst week of my life.

It did mitigate some of the wd symptoms, but the side effects were exponentially worse. Sleep paralyses accompanying nightmares and waking visions; electric-cold shocks running up and down my spine and extremities; extreme mental clouding-- to the point that i quite literally felt retarded and couldnot communicate effectively.

It did put me to sleep for about two hours directly after taking the pill, but then i was awake, no matter what else i took, for at least eight or ten hours.

In the event that the above does not convey it, clonidine is the single most horrid substance I've ever put into my body. I'd prefer cold turkey wd any day to a clonidine detox.

To be fair, i've read that all of my symptoms are "potential side effects" and about ten percent of people have bad reactions, so you could be just fine... but if, like me, you're in the ten percent that gets the majority of the side effects, you're in for a shitty shitty week... the stuff has a incredible half-life, too, iirc... two to three days...

You might be surprised at how well Lyrica™ (start at 150 mg) will help you through your withdrawals. Simply using Lyrica and Loperamide at addiction equivalent* levels had me feeling pretty good.

*Example you take the equivalent of 10x the therapeutic dose of oxy. Then, you take ten times the therapeutic dose of Loperamide. Reduce your loperamide by one pill (2 mg) per day until you get to zero.

did u really just put a tm after Lyrica? lol

either way, if anything its a "c" in a circle

tm is trade mark, and lyrica itself isnt a trade mark

im pretty sure trademark is for something like a symbol or font, not just a name

but it could be possible its a trademark for the actual chemical name...so im not 100% positive but thats what i know

Should be able to get them from any doc. However, unless you have high BP there are only a couple of other uses for them (for the most part at least AFAIK) so it may be fairly easy to figure out why you want them.

I would just say that you 'heard' they help with sleep (which they do but not in acute w/d) and wanted to try it instead of a benzo based or Z drug. Although Zopiclone are great sleep aids I find. They only drug I ever used dring cold turkey w/d the only one that put me to sleep by the econd night for sure if not the first is Seroquel. 100mg of that usually puts me into a coma. Even that helps speed up the recovery.

THE miracle drug is buprenorphine used as a no longer than 21-28 (max) taper. Almost elminates acute withdrawal. So far there is no way to beat PAWS that
AFAIK
