Clonidine mixed with Methadone

I am not taking Clonidine for Methadone withdrawals.

I simply took 10mg of Methadone and have a script of .1 mg Clonidine for sleep. My only concern is that I know Clonidine lowers blood pressure but Methadone also lessens oxygen (breathing) intake.

So I am not sure if taking the Clonidine for sleep would make the effects of Methadone when it permits to breathing more intense and I could possibly stop breathing in my sleep? Would like an answer sooner rather than later because I have not taken the Clonidine in fear of respiratory problems.. And its already 2 a.m.
 
It would be a freak event if this ended up harming you in any way. First off, the most dangerous things regarding clonidine use are as follows: Hypotension (low blood pressure) as you had mentioned and then of course rebound Hypertension (high blood pressure) can be caused by chronic dosing of Clonidine.

You are right to be worried about mixing other sedative type medications with Methadone, so I applaud you for that. The fact is that your doses of both methadone and clonidine are quite low. Clonidine is not sedative in the same way that a benzodiazepine would be. Benzodiazepine and Methadone co-administered can definitely cause some dangerous changes to your respiratory rate.

Most likely, the Clonidine will just increase your overall feeling of "tiredness" but will not cause any serious problems. I should also note, that their is no real synergy between these two medications from what I've experienced. There is just going to be the added feeling of sedation that I had mentioned above. Save your Clonidine for when you might need it, say for opioid withdrawal later down the road, or just for a sleep-aid/stress reducer.
 
Thank you! Very informative and it eased my worries about the interaction of the two drugs. Last night I stayed up just long enough where I didn't have to take the Clonidine because of how tired I was. But In the future I will keep this mind, again, thank you!
