I have been on .5 klonopin the last year and a half. Recently I was moved to .75. I just ran out of my klonopin and it's a month early for my med pick up so I can't get anymore. what are the symptoms of klonopin withdrawals?

.5 per day? If that's all you'll be fine. From your username I'd assume some other benzo's are in the mix?

I don't know if .75 mg per day is enough to cause withdrawals. I don't know for sure though. For about a year I've been prescribed a shit ton of benzos for anxiety, but don't take as much as I'm prescribed (#60 2mg clonazepam and #100 10mg diazepam per month - crazy, I know) - I just take them when I need them to avoid physical dependency.

However, I have had a few seizures and thought it was because of my extremely low blood sugar since they happened when I hadn't eaten (it was 54 in the ambulance after one of them; it should be 80-110), but when I started taking Xanax daily for awhile and then stopped, I ended up having a few more seizures and actually stopped breathing during a couple of them. I also had one and crashed my car. I am now making sure I take some daily until my neurologist appointment because I'm not sure if they are from benzo withdrawal or just my blood sugar.

Be careful..benzo withdrawal is dangerous!! Can you get some klonopin, valium, xanax, etc. from a friend to at least take a little bit a day to maintain until you get your prescription? Try not to run out again if you have been taking them daily; that shit can kill you. Like I said, I stopped breathing after two of my seizures and had to be given mouth-to-mouth, and crashed my car during one.

Best of luck!

^ dude thats fucked up, I was always scared of that, seizing and crashing my car the day I ran out of klonopins back a couple years ago

Yeah, it's really fucked up. It's scary feeling so out of control of my body. The scary part is when I realize I'm about to have one, because I get that "OH SHIT" feeling and then just black out. No fun.

I imagine that possibly Valerian Root could help one that is only taking .5mg a day. I was on 90 1mg 3x daily. The Doc was giving me those for 4 months before switching to .5,g 3x daily.

Though Valerian root only releases a sedative form of GABA, won't help with anxiety but can supply the brains receptors with GABA. I have used it to help relax also have in addition to taking it on low doses of benzo's for a boost.

When I eventually got cut off. It was the physical withdrawl(s) that were very annoying. Even with a slight tapering off.

Melatonin taken around the same time as Valerian root especially helped @ night.

I have always wondered if 0.5mgs doses are actually doing anything but placebo. For starters, I doubt people using this dose are taking it on an empty stomach which seriously delays and impairs absorption of the drug. Even when I had not tolerance, I would need over 1 mg to register clonazepam on an empty stomach.

Just throwing it out, as it has been the case before that doctors prescribed "sugar pills" and patients experienced improvements in anxiety.

0.75mg (when i had no tolerance) gave me noticeable psychological effect, anxiolysis, and help sleeping

0.5mg would do something even with a meal. even 0.25. it may not be noticeable psychologically, but the brain is in a slightly different chemical state, and less thoughts produced from anxiety will register

they compare drugs to sugar pills and take dose into account

bluelighters tend to be used to noticeable psychoactive effect. when using therapeutically, it isn't necessarily necessary. i think the effects of drugs are stronger than we give them credit for sometimes. effects on physiology and sometimes not-noticeable psychoactive effects linger for longer than we think

then again of course, some metabolize faster or absorb slower and 0.5 is not enough even without tolerance

If you can get your hands on any clonazepam at all, I'd use ut to wean as much as possible. A dose of 0.5mg isn't that high, but it could stand to be dropped to 0.25/ day and then 0.25 every other day...

If you can get your hands on another benzo, that would certainly help. Just mix it in with the little bit of clonazepam so the incomplete cross tolerance between the benzis does not really effect you

fyi any tapering (if you want to not be dependent) should be really slow. otherwise it can be pretty disruptive to pretty much every part of life

a fourth of a 0.5 pill every 1-3 weeks is what i'd do but that's with a tolerance etc. you could perhaps go quicker if you've only been on 0.5 total

What is your actual use? If you were taking it just as prescribed and not recreationally, you shouldn't have run out so soon. You have to be very careful with benzo w/d's, as the other posters have said. Everyone is different too, some people have a lower seizure threshold and can seize with minor w/d's, where others may never have a problem. Seriously, you need to be VERY careful when coming off benzos. The slower the better.

Any way you can talk to your doctor? I understand that you ran out, but maybe he/she would help you in some way to taper. Don't go the doc route, however, if you are just going to abuse them, b/c then you'll just be right back in the same boat again, possibly worse.
