hi goin thru suboxone wd's for the first time, and for two days i took 5mgg of klonopin which seemed to really help. yesterday i took 3.5mg. would i be ok to take 5mg or even 6? i know it has a long half life. also, if i were to take a small dose say 2mg in the morning, could i drink at night?

As far as just "being ok" I wouldn't advise that you combine them with booze. You are talking about still quite significant doses. Just because 2 is less than 5 or 6, doesn't make it "small", with all due respect.

If you want my advice, use the Clonazepam for as short a time as possible, to help you with the WD's, then get off them. Or you'll be replacing one problem with an even worse one.

And I don't think anyone could really say that you should combine Clonazepam and booze in good conscience. It's not a good idea imo. I'd stick to the Clonazepam for a short while to help, and drink some other time. If you want to be as safe as possible, of course.

Do you have a tolerance to klonopin/benzos? Those seem like pretty high and varied doses (2-5mg). If you want to use them for w/ds you should probably set up a consistent dosing schedule that tapers off shortly considering there will is the possibility of benzo withdrawals with longer use. As the poster above said, use them only for a short time.

Do not mix benzodiazepines such as clonazepam (Klonopin) with other CNS depressants such as alcohol or opioids. This can result in fatal respiratory depression. It's a death wish. And you've already taken an excessively large amount of clonazepam for someone without tolerance.

If your in opioid withdrawal, the last thing you should be doing is drinking alcohol especially if you're taking benzodiazepines too.

thanks for all the help everyone. i know everything there is to know bout opiates, but i'm lost wit benzos. i do have a high tolerance to EVERYTHING however, so even when i take small doses (1-2mg) i feel NOTHING! even the other day when i took 3 1/2mg i didnt feel anything. i've been on klonopin for roughly 6months and i usually only took around 5mg a week, but the wd's are so bad i just want somethin to numb the pain! they definitely make a diference, but they do have a tendancy to make me dizzy. i only have 7-1mg tablets left, so i was planning on takin 4 or 5 today then just 1mg the next couple days. btw i know it has a long half life, so would it be safe to drink say the day after i stop takin em? thank you everyone.

Benzos aren't the same as opiates in that way, you won't necessarily feel "something" in the way you feel opiates. It won't hit you where at 2;17 pm you'll say"ok, there it is". I mean it's there, but it's more subtle. They could, or I should say they are probably affecting you a lot more than you realize. I feel "nothing" on relatively high doses of Clonazepam either, it hasn't stopped me from doing stupid things and forgetting them, as well as having seizures when I tried to stop cold turkey.

If you think opiate withdrawals are bad, you do not want to experience benzo withdrawals. I'm not minimizing the former, but.....yeah.

I'd space out those remaining 7, over the next week, even jump a day here or there if you can, and then just stop taking them. If they are helping, great, but you don't want to ramp up the dose just for the sake of it. I'd keep the dose to the minimum where you can at least function, and get off them asap.

You could probably drink tomorrow, I mean there will be a bit in your system still. I would advise you not to though. Liks I said, some will still be there, and you are trying to deal with the WD's already, why make things tougher?

If the question is"can I go out and get hammered while still going through WD's and having some of a benzo in my system?" The safe answer is no. But if you're asking whether or not having a couple beers is going to kill you the day after you took Clonazepam, probably not.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but wow you seem to want to give yourself a hard time. You are already in WD's, now taking too much Clonazepam and now you want to drink. Give yourself a bit of a break. That's just my advice anyway.
