Clonazepam High Dose - Rare use

So I have read alot of information about how benzo's such as Clonazepam can permanently damage the brain with chronic use (not particluarly sure how exactly) but I was wondering would the odd high dose have the same effect on the brain? Say 40mg of Cloazepam.


(less important question) Also I realise this question has most likely been answer 1000 times but I was just wondering if it is ok to mix things like Cloazepam with this like Oxynorm.
 
You're taking 40mg of clonazepam? How long have you been taking this dosage for and how often?

No, it is not safe to mix that insanely high of a dose of clonazepam with an opiate like oxycodone (OxyNorm).

Well I have only taken 20mg of clonazepam 5 days previously (first time ever taking clonazepam. Thanks for the help. But I was wondering if anyone can answer my question inregards to the brain relatd issues bearing that I have only taken in twice, admitedly in higd doses. I can't quite seem to find a clear answer.


It does seem chronic users can suffer from brain damage but like said I am not a chronic user but I have taken it twice in high doses. I am also wondering if because of the high dose and the short period time between the doses will I have built up a high tolerance?

Also I don't mean to sound rude but I am really hoping for some detailed/advanced answers. I know I have no real standing to make such a request but it would be really helpful.
 
Yes, you will have built up a tolerance. Why on earth are you taking 20mg clonazepam your first time?

You took twenty times the recommended dose of a powerful benzodiazepine and you're asking about brain damage?

Clonazepam has a very long half life. You're going to be impaired for a very long time.

Please do your research before taking insane doses like this..

So are you saying because of it's long half-life (18-50 hours) I will need to wait for the "impairment" to dissipate?

Also for the record (not trying to sound rude) but that was last night and I feel fairly ok this morning. Though I did sleep-in.

Also again please don't be offended, but I did do some research it's just that I kinda panicked when i saw things like "permanent damage" sufficed to say my research was not fully complete before hand.

My KEY concern is words like "permanent".

Like I said before I realise I am but just a 'noob' and have no real right to ask of this, but I would really appreciate and be greatly thankful for some detailed/advanced responses.

Most drugs of abuse cause receptor up / down regulation as a means of coping with the large amount of drugs present. While this could be considered change, calling it damage would be inaccurate.

Benzodiazepine-induced brain damage would be the result of something like severe acute withdrawal or overdose resulting in respiratory depression. Using benzodiazepines for extended periods can also impede cognition, but this appears to improve gradually after quitting.

mistakenly took 20mg (in 2mg pills). I know I just was at work for double-shifts and I was extremely tired and was not thinking properly.

So are you saying my panic is unwarranted inregards to permanent damage. Because it seems - User "KillCops" is correct. I don't feel that bad just a little bit wobbly on my feet, but not that much.
 
Short-term use of high doses of benzos should not cause permanent brain damage - unless you overdosed and stopped breathing or went into a coma or something like that. Although it hasn't really been studied, it's difficult to study and almost all the studies have been on long-term use of benzos. But yeah, try not to take so much clonazepam, 20mg-40mg are ridiculous doses for someone new to it. I am really surprised you even remember what happened.

Well I know I did not stop breathing or go into a coma. And like I said I was sleep deprived both times. But I am going to make it does not happen again.

Interesting fact though is that the first 20mg I had trouble remember the events that followed but this time I can remember alot more. I am guessing that is to do with the tolerance.

Clonazepam is a seriously powerful benzo, even more insidious than xanax in terms of building physical dependency due to its extraordinarily long half life, which means the BZD receptors are constantly saturated with clonazepam... beware of long-acting drugs and subsequent physical dependency.
 
Every drug will change your chemical structure in your brain. I've been on clonazepam for about 11 years and the only thing I notice is some memory problems. I take 2mg 3 times a day.
 
It's VERY hard to OD on Clonazepam. You can take a lot and not die. But for the love of pete, quit taking 20mg at a time. That would even know ME on my f*ckin ass. ANd I believe you'll black out.

Yeah I won't be touching it again.
 
I've been keeping my klonazepam dosage at less that 4 tablets a week for the past few weeks. Each tablet contains 0.5mg of clonazepam. Yesterday night, my family member was bothering me in the bathroom that I had to wash the dishes. I thought "Fuck! I can't even use the bathroom in peace". When they kept arguing, I was making a point that I was going to wash the dishes, but I was in the bathroom. "Aren't I allowed to pee and poop in peace?" She made me angry, so I went for a walk and came back. I got my sunglasses and my ID and got a glass of water and downed three klonopin tablets(equivalent to 1.5mg clonazepam). I went to this place I sometimes go to where sometimes there's bands playing, sometimes a DJ playing music. The place usually has flat music, but admission is 5 bucks. I didn't care. Today, I'm feeling a little sleepy. I can focus, but I'm sleepy. If benzodiazepines are taken often, you'll get impaired. However, if it's only used sometimes, you will not get very impaired, just sleepy and sometimes relaxed or semi-relaxed.
