Clonazepam for OCD

I've recently come across a good amount of Clonazepam .5mgs.
I have pretty severe OCD and i was wondering if anybody else takes this and what their dose usually is. I dont want to abuse it but i need some relief from the thoughts i have. I have no tolerance whatsoever so and i dont want to take these and be passing out at work and in front of friends and family.

I have heard of benzos being used for conditions like OCD, but I would recommend going to your doctor and asking their advice before you self medicate.

OCD is an anxiety disorder and yes, clonazepam will help relieve some of the symptoms from what I hear but I can't tell you from any personal experience as I don't have OCD. If you are content on taking it I'd suggest you take 1mg. That won't make you too sleepy.

^Agreed. 0.5 to 1.0mg will be all you need, any more will most likely be too sedating to allow you to do everyday tasks.

Yeah i took .75 and i feel awake but relaxed. I dont usually like benzos cuz I always pass out on them, but i think ive been using them the wrong way. I heard benzos work real well with SSRI's in the treatment of OCD so I might bring that up to my doctor. Anyways, thanks guys i appreciate it.

Benzos in general will help out your OCD for the time being. But I should warn you, there's a reason that most medical professionals generally don't prescribe benzos as a long-term treatment. There's the whole issue of tolerance, dependence, addiction, etc.

If I were you, I'd hang on to them and take one when you're really feeling anxious or having trouble controlling the symptoms. But in the meantime, I'd really look into behavioral therapy in combination with an SSRI.

Looks like you've got your dosing sorted, and there's been quite a lengthy discussion about valium for anxiety which might be helpful to your question here - looks like this thread may end up heading down similar lines. Lots of good advice here - I would always advise considering long-term treatments as well as short term fixes, and getting medical advice from your doctor
